Prime Minister Gordon Brown has pledged to stand by Pakistan in its fight against the Taleban.
Mr Brown said the UK's ties with the country had grown stronger after talks in Downing Street with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.
He announced a "new strategic dialogue" aimed at defeating "violent extremism and terror" and boosting development.
And he unveiled a £12m aid package for people displaced by conflict in Pakistan's North-West region.

but the ghurkas aren't a 'key ally' . .

people should note Pak is being primed for a full on assault. mr 10% is gladly filling his pockets whilst the american drones are destroying Pak's tribal region.

the asian switzerland is now another Iraq, a battleground being used as a pawn.

there should be an outcry that in times of recession, such gifts are being made.

as with the donation to india, there are ulterior, and sinister no less, motives behind it.

It is to butter them up for when we are totally oblitterating Afghanistan and we need their help.

hahaha!!

so why give them 12m , to stock uranium ?

this is ********, the same being spouted towards Iran.

i just wish Iran keeps its secure program in check, ready to retaliate when required.

Also should mean a bit more freedom to go into the north-western region and root out Al Qaeda.

Except Afghanistan won't have the backing of the United States in this war. Iraq was a mistake, but hopefully refocusing the international community on Afghanistan will eliminate Al Qaeda.

Maybe, although escalation is perhaps not something you'd want to wish for. At some point one side will have to give, which means either certain countries accepting democracy, allowing people to speak out without fear of death, maybe even allowing people to have debates on the internet or the west bowing to Islamic law and HUKD going bye-bye.

you read the daily mail too ?

anyone who thinks there's a democracy in the west, is seriously disillusioned

Venezuela is the closest there is, and we know how they're treated

as far as i know they don't but you should have a read about pipelines transferring the oil that are being built or have been built. Tony Benn knows a lot more about it than me maybe you should look him up.
you can thank me later

Tony Benn is a sage of politics, the PM that never was, shame his son's a ****.
Jeremy Corbyn is another sage, suprisingly both labour.

It must be a good illusion. I cant remember any tanks rolling in and military powers taking control. I know you don't read the Daily Mail, but I'd love to know what you do read. I need a laugh.

Venezuela is the closest there is, and we know how they're treated

LOL. Yeh right. Chevez wants to stop further elections and keep control by never getting voted out!

I don't read the Mail, apart from for 'research' but I think the democracy and free speech we have here is flawed but in a way beautiful.

Also, I know Chavez is the hot new kid on the block since he called Bush the devil (and he was probably right) but let's think with how heads and not our lustful loins. He's been pretty disastrous domestically and his pathetic attempts at a photo op with Obama were just pitiful.

I'd like peace and harmony, but if certain countries or groups don't want that and increase the violence, they're hopefully not going to win.

as expected

Chavez simply lifted the restriction as to the length a person can stay in charge.

haha!!

Strange that you hold Benn and Chavez in similar esteem. I've huge admiration for Benn, a man who understands power must reside in all the people, something that Chavez has actively worked against during his time in power.
#32
Chavez is the best thing that happened to Venezuela, something Pak desperately needs.

yet its no suprise, his opposition is magnified in the murdochesq press.

Freedom of the press, deaths in protests, failing infrastructure.

He's a bad leader. I'd agree that FNC vilifies him more than he deserves and that he's rather pathetic in some ways, but it's laughable that you'd hold him up as a leading beacon of democracy.
#35
next he'll want to give MPs £m slush fund...oh wait thats already happened

"Democracy is the recurrent suspicion that more than half of the people are right more than half of the time." E.B. White.

Democracy is extremely flawed. It is the tyranny of the minority by the majority.. hey, quote myself!
