Right...

Im moving home in around 2 weeks to a new build property which currently does not have an "enabled" BT line.

BT have advised that it will cost me £122.50 to get the line enabled, plus i am then tied into their 12 month minimum term contract and the cheapest phone package is £11.25
a month.

The problem I have is that i want to get my phone package via SKY TALK, with boardband and TV.) because its cheaper.

Now BT are forcing me into a contract i will have to go with them and look at SKY Talk later.

So the question.... The phone lines are enalbed my Open Reach, (part of BT Group.) does anyone know how to get the phone line enabled without using BT??

or am i stuck with BT for 12 months??

(ps.. no Virgin cable in area.)

Thanks

Rick

Have you spoken to sky about this,my mate recently took out sky and he had to have his line enabled and sky took care of it,

You may find that Sky will cough for the installation if you are going with them. A friend of mine recently moved into a new build and Sky then reimbursed the cost of the installation as he was taking a sky package. You will need the BT line for Sky anyway!

Speak to Sky's moving home team, they may get your line installed for £25 and you'll be on Sky Talk straight away

hi. as far as im aware there is no other way of getting ur line connected. if you sign up on an 18month contract you will get the installation charge back so its worth considering.

Just done it all last night.

I am moving to a new build which will need phone lines enabled.
I have taken the Sky Talk, Sky World TV and broadband ( once phone line is in)
It costs £56 monthly, with a one off connection fee of £55. That includes everything with Sky+ box free. I also asked about more phone boxes, and they said the engineer will do what I want.
Also it is deffo BT Openreach that installs the lines, that was confirmed tome last night.
So, you do not need to bother with BT at all, just go through SKY.

Hope that helps

Thakns for the advice...

i have called BT and Sky this morning..

Sky - I have been with Sky for 5 years and got broadband with them.

The best they can offer me as an existing customer, is £60 to move all my equipment from current home to new home.

£29.00 for Sky HD

or £199 for a Sky + box.

I have asked about enabling the line etc, but they have advised new customers only, in only certain areas.

They were not prepared to offer me anything more than the basic packages..

I said to the guy, i will just cancel then..... he replied.... one second.... on hold........................ Hi Sir.. your account is now cancelled... Good Bye!

Arg!

I called sky back and they can re-enable it if i want to move home package with them...

So..... i will call sky now and re-ask!

Cheers

why not just make out you're a new customer?

Yes I would, if you have a partner do it in her name maybe?
I managed to get Sky HD £49, Sky+ for multiroom FREE, Sky HD subscription,Multiroom subscription, free sky talk line rental for 12 months (cost £25 installation) All movies, sports etc, Broadband for £65 a month which I was chuffed with.

Maybe not a good deal to some but Virgins prices were silly compared to this.

One other question...

Right...

I have just called SKY TALK..

They can enable the line for NEW customers only for £25.00

Exisitng Customers, - They are not interested in enabling their lines, you have to have an active phone line.

The lady has advised that they confirm all bank details names to cross ref if your a new customer.

So... the best option now is for me is to set up SKY under my partner, use her own bank account and get the best deal..

Cheers
