his/shes got BT Broadband!

IP profile for your line is - 7000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6471 kbps

but when I try and listen to radio or stream football ex my speeds drop so low I spend all my time buffering

yeah i know - i'm on Sky LLU so can't use the BT speedtest anymore - but when i was still on BT's network, i used to run that test to see what my Bras profile had been set at!

From those stats there's nothing wrong with the connection...

over active firewall?
or some spyware on machine?

Your line is FINE!
NOTHING to WORRY about  :) :whistling:

Well if you have a slow connection elsewhere that means that server is ****

You download @ full 8MB

What the problem is if you go and watch football and listen to radio and buffers this is because of that server had not good upload rate or is busy

Its hard to understand

Basically your connection is FINE

When you download a program it MIGHT download slow because of the SERVER you are DOWNLOADING from

D/W your connection is fine

anymore questions?

I'd grab an anti-spyware prog (spybot search and destroy is a good start) and run a check just to be sure, but as h4x3r says: the line is fine, and your profile is very healthy at 7000k

no spyware only rebuilt computer yesterday

using windows firewall

Then I don't think you have any problems!

yeah you would think it was a server prob but happens on everysite I use was goin to buy subscription for channel 67 to watch celtic but managed to get code to try it out and ended up turning it off because it was too slow. Surely this is a good site as they have thousands of people using the service without any probs
#27
Have you run a tracert?

soz not a techie just learning so dont know what that is:oops:
banned#30
OK
let me explain

files you download/things to stream/forums/websites are all stored on servers.

On many servers you can choose what server you would like your website/files etc etc to be stored on

Some servers do not have a good upload speed which means your download speed will be rubbish

Some servers are the best upload speeds in the world but you will STILL download slowlly BECAUSE alot of people are downloading from that server

NOW if this occurs you will download slowly

why?

Because the server will been to upload @ 800k for you to download @ 800k which is 8MB

But your connection is FINE there will be nothing to improve it as it cannot be improved
#31
hmmm - now that suggests there maybe a problem somewhere....

try a tracert test:

go to start and run, type in cmd and then press ok. Then in the black DOS box that comes up type in tracert www.bbc.co.uk, copy and paste results
#32
what h4x3r is saying is true, however there may be a dodgy link between you and the end server, hence the bt speedtest reports everything as fine. A tracert may show where the problem is.

soz copy and paste wouldn't work

its fine
screenshot downloading this file @ 25% 50% 75% and try to 90-100% download the LARGE file 15MB be quick because it finishs download in like 10 seconds
#35
hmm.. the first line suggests there may be a problem between your PC and the Hub. When I run the test, the first line shows three lots of <1ms - which is the length of time, or delay bewteen the PC and the router /hub.

As you are connected using the ethernet cable - have you checked the cable for kinks/damage? tried a different cable?

ziggzag and h4x3r - does the BT hub have an additional firewall? - areally aggressive one?
