Hi
I have had BT broadband with the Hub etc option 3 for 12 months.

the internet is used a lot in this house, Bt has also worked well and never had any problems at all. always been very fast.

anyway, been looking around at other options as my contract is up in a week or so.

BT have offered me option 3 'unlimited broadband' for £19.99 a month for 12 months.

Is this an ok deal?

I am not in a cable area and cant get sky or talktalk where i live.

the only option i was thinking about was plusnet.

any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Do you have a 360. If so then BT are going to provide it with IPTV content shortly. Won't be able to get it with anyone else so could be worth sticking with. Other than that i don't really know, i've been with NTL/Virgin for years and also have BT Broadband as well. :)

Option 3 is the same as it was before it went "Unlimited". It used to be 50GB usage and now it has a fair use policy which is exceeded over 50GB.

Argh I have a 360 and wanted the IPTV. Can't go to BT as we have 4 computers which are used quite heavily as well as a lot of downloading :(

So BT thinks unlimited means 50GB!!!!!

Does anyone else see the irony of what they have done here by changing the description of a 50GB cap - which is clear to see and hide it in T&Cs but describe the contract as unlimited!!!

The changes that OFCOM are proposing to force this misleading info into the open can't come quick enough!

To the OP - have you tried www.bethere.co.uk ? If they operate in your area and you live close enough to your exchange, then they are highly recommended. I wouldnt touch plusnet though. A visit to adslguide.org forums (now renamed) should advise on which ISP comes recommended and which ones to avoid.

interesting. I have been with orange for about 18 months with no problem, other than the max speed i could get is 2Mb. i checked BT today, and they reckon i can get 6.5MB. but they cost over double what i pay just now, 12.99.
This Fast4Net mention adsl max, which i reckon is probably what Bt would use to get the higher speed. Are these people reliable? As i am very interested.

I'm with bulldog, now owned by pipex.
I can download 50gb in a week lol
I pay them £30, inc line rental and an alleged 8mb which on testing is more than 3.75mb but it's perfect for me
Not sure they take new customers under my terms mind

Bulldog's fair use policy for new customers is also 50GB  People can use more than that looking at youtube once a day :giggle:

I'm with Vispa, they don't let new customers on my service but the service I get is terrible, constant disconnections and bursts of major packet loss which makes websites load incredibly slowly and games jolt erratically. But they don't have a fair use policy for my connection so I can get over it :)

You are one of the lucky few then, everybody else seems to be plagued with problems with Fast24.

I would avoid them.

Ask them for BT Vision (installed for nowt) as one of your mates got it as a retention deal. It's a 160Gb Freeview PVR with on demand content. Not as good as Sky+ but it's ok for free.

is bt vision good to get if you dont live in a freeview area?

Lol, sorry 50Gb is NOT a limit :) it truly is unlimited/uncapped and not monitored it seems :)

22Mb does sound great mind :)

When i 1st got Bulldog i had a contention ratio of 2:1 since only me and someone else where in that exchange :) not sure about now

Guess downloads are only as fast as the server can send them down to you mind.....
