BT Homehub 2..???!??

Basically i'd like to hear others experiences with these pos's. Brother in law has had 2 in the last week and both continually reboot. You just can't get the damn things to stay switched on for more than 3 minutes. When the delivery driver came to deliver the replacement, BIL said don't you want to take the other one with you? Driver said "Bin it, i've delivered 5 to a woman down the road in the last month, they're rubbish...."

the white one was bad enough IMO but the black one gives a whole new meaning to rubbish tech ..... my advice to anyone signing up to bt is ebay the black router and buy a belkin or router of your choice

The only reason the brother in law upgraded was because he thought a v2 would be better (well it looks better...). Only problem he had with the old V1 was that he had to unplug it every now and then as it would freeze. Not sure what's actually wrong with the new one, it's fine and stable as anything as long as you don't plug it into a phone line...... Yeah....

I've got the black home hub and have had it for a year. Haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. It's been perfect in fact !

I've not once had any problems during the day with the white hub, BT yes but not the actual hub, Maybe the firmware has been upgraded at some point and made it more stable?.

I have noticed something though, Sometimes during early hours it has disconnected and then a few minutes later connected again. I assume it's BT doing some daily maintenance?

I think that's something to do with it searching for updates. Had that at about 2am the other morning. Went offline for about 30 mins (no ping or anything) then it just suddenly sprang back into life. Weird things lol.

I'm wondering if maybe the early V2's were ok and the new ones are a bit lacking in the QC department.

We have had awful experience of BT, although we now seen to have sorted most of it out.

BT merged ours and another account together...and charged us for the total bill. It was £300+ per month / nearly £1000 at the end of the quarter. It took 2 months to sort out and the they cut us off at one stage (they reinstated us without cost but it was more calling their India call centre) as we refused to pay the bill. The only way we got any action was by googling the chairman's details and threatening the call centre manager to write to him and the regulators with the staff's names who had promised to sort it out but hadn't -him being one of them! Funny, they managed it then! :whistling:

We now are receiving 'normal' bills but the hub plays up about once a week so we are actively looking to change now. Virgin are supposed to be good but after previous experience we are taking our time to research before committing.

Virgin are worse than BT imo, They cap your speed between certain hours. If you need technical support with your broadband connection, Not only do you have to speak to someone in India it's a premium rate number.

I had some speed issues with BT not so long a go and it took them around a month to sort it out. Now and up until then it was fine.

I only currently get 2MB speed with BT's "upto 8MB broadband", I'm changing supplier as soon as my contract ends. 02 and Be are supposed to be good.

i had the white one and had no problems - then i got the black one and again had no problems - but then again i think im in the minority of thinking BT are excellent
