Hey up all...

I had a call yeterday from a BT rep offering me a free hub (white one) and 8meg DL speed + free evening & weekend calls. We are on Option 1 - I think - at the moment and I get my Broadband from VM (2meg for £14 a month), but this offer was for £16.99 a month so sounded tempting.

I do watch hell of a lot of video streams and have never thought of what that amounts to though!

Any advice or opinions are more than welcome as he says he'll ring me back in a few days...

Cheers all!?!

I agree, it is a bit steeper but I have never had such a reliable connection than I do with BT. Previously with Virgin and they had a very unreliable service (though not on fibre optic broadband at that time)

Do find out what the download limit is. Assuming it's reasonable (20GB+) then you'll probably be fine if you're not tripping virgin's speed limitations.

Thanks for the input...

I might even try ringing VM to tell them what I've been offered just to see if they can better it... That said they alays seem to say "optics are better... You won't get what you pay for" but at least I'd get more than 2 meg!

Is it not cheaper to get a bigger package incl phone from virgin and drop bt altogether?, push for the black hub if you can.

Crossed my mind but I'm back at my parents now and my Dad won't budge from BT as we had a whole lot of trouble last time I changed ISP to Bulldog... Now they were a pain in the ar... neck! :whistling:

I was getting letters from BD and my dad from BT for ages after Bulldog mucked up and decided to change the lot to them and charge me for months for a service I didn't want... Or use!

Sadly I can't even go the route of getting VM Broadband and telly as they claim we can't get telly at this address. EVERY other house in the street can but not us... Even though we had cable TV installed years ago before we tried Sky! :?

So you probably have VM line rental too so you would have to pay to reconnect to BT. As a guide you should be paying around what I pay to VM

BB M (2mb), telephone line rental and talk option of free calls in evenings and weekends - all for £15.95 per month.

Nope.... Just B-Band at 2 meg. They wanted £20 ish for that but they lowered it to £14 a couple of months ago when I kicked up a stink about being overcharged and then having my balance credited... But was still being charged with my statement/bill showing £28 credit every month.

That was odd as well!

so you are paying BT for line rental when VM include that for free with their broadband?

Didn't know that!

Like I say though, my dad won't budge because of past experiences.

Sort of... He'd carry on with the usual amount & I'd make up the difference.

Everyone uses the interwobble that I pay for now and my PC so in a sense it's like getting something back ;-)
