Hello,

I am in progress of trying to find a new BB ISP.

Just had a look at BT Infinity which is due for realease in the next few days..

I currently have a SKY phone line, when i go onto the below site to the "Can I get Infinity", I enter my SKY (Phone line) number, house number and postcode I get the below result

http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=28987&s_cid=con_FURL_infinity

Broadband option Maximum connection speed When you can get it Action
BT Total Broadband You can get fast and reliable broadband with speeds of up to 20Mb. 5.0Mb download Now

However, If I go to the tab, "Im not with BT" I get the below result...

Broadband option Maximum connection speed When you can get it Action
BT Total Broadband You can get fast and reliable broadband with speeds of up to 8Mb. 4.0Mb download Now Learn more
BT Infinity You can get fibre optic broadband with speeds of up to 40Mb now. 18.8Mb download
7.7Mb upload Now

So the question is, as im with SKY Talk, im not with BT.. so that means I can get it??

If anyone else can try it with their details and let me know the outcome --

(I tried calling CS @ BT and was advised that they cant advise until release date.)

Thanks

''So the question is, as im with SKY Talk, im not with BT right... so that means I can get it??''

I would also like to know this as I am also with sky talk, and my line rental is with sky. SO this means i'm with sky, not BT? eventhough its a BT line...

Right......

I have spoke to BT Broadband customer services...

I said I am not with BT and would like to check if i can get it.

Gave house number and postcode = YES

Gave phone number = No --

The guy said he thinks i should be able to get it as the "non BT" customer part says I can.

I have to ring back on Monday and try and order, they will then be able to confirm 100%

The next question is......... any offers anywhere for it! -- (which I doubt!!!)

Cheers.

On sky pay rental to sky for the line, says I can get up to 6meg but I'm already getting 10meg with Sky

Can you post a screen of the results you get ?

I very much doubt you can get Fibre in your area although I may be wrong. Go for it if you can.

Just be aware that they may be misleading you. Your exchange isn't even 21CN enabled so it shouldn't be telling you can get 20Mb either.

BT obviously proof read this before putting it up::

High quality streaming of popular video content from iPlayer adn YouTube and downloads up to 7 times faster on iTunes.

DFN,

This is the result when i enter my house number and postcode when i state "I DO NOT" have a BT line.

Exchange is MYCAL -

When i enter my "SKY TALK" phone number in the "I have got a BT line", then enter my house number and postcode i get

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s13/RickT_album/BB2.jpg

So which is right, as advised by BT BB C/S, he said as im noty a BT customer, when he puts my postcode and address in it states i can get it..

I guess the real test would be to try and order it on Monday..

But as DFN says, my exchange is not 21CN enabled... ????

Cheers

Very strange, I wish it said that for my results !

I guess the only thing for you to do is to try ordering it on Monday. I'm fairly sure it is a mistake though.

Good luck !

However... im still thinking..... do i need 17mb, or will the 5mb Talk Talk LLU service fill my needs.....

The down side to TT is the 24 month contract!

It states if you have a BT line, but not with BT to not put your landline number in.

So select 'BT Line' but dont enter a number, just your house name and post code.

I'm with sky and it says I can get it, however they are offering slower speeds to what I am receiving now.

Ok --

I have just done what you said..

Selected - I've got a BT line
Tell us your details and we'll let you know if you can get BT Infinity.
Your landline number (if BT):
Left blank as im with Sky
Your house no./name:XX
Your Postcode: XX

and the output =

Yeah if i enter my mums address it says 4mb now and 5mb in june, but they are with sky and i believe they get between 6.5-7.5mb.
BT = fail...again.

If i put my place in SE London it states i can get 7mb, but i get 12mb there with bethere, although i only pay for upto 8mb with bethere!

Remember the figure they quote though is what they can provide you at a stable connection, ie.. not over promising.

Says i can get 4.0mb now

But i get 8 through Be, and i actually get 8 too. Be tell me my max is 12, which is what i got when they connected me, for a day or so
#18
That's rubbish says I can only get 5.0Mb!
#19
I pay Sky for line rental and calls. Tried the 'Im not with BT' option and it said I can only get Bt Total Broadband at a speed of 3mb.

Tried the I'm with BT' option it says I can only get BT total Broadband at a speed of 0.5mb.

I called them yesterday...

I cant get Infinty in my area... the reason the website was saying I could was due to it not been "updated" -
