Bulk Buying and Morals

I like the idea of hukd, sharing good deals and bargains with others.

People that are skint benefit, purchasing cheaper goods for their family, children and friends, that was why I registered on the site, to help people whose finances are tight.

Since joining hukd (Which is not very long) I have noticed some excellent deals posted on hukd that are bought in bulk for profit.

(leaving no items for others to purchase)

Profiting at the expense of depriving others who are not so well off, is in my opinion not very moral and contradicts the principle why many post and participate on hukd.

When bulk buyers pocket hundreds & hundreds of pounds profit for less than 30 mins of clicking at a keyboard "that is immoral" whilst they are happy to watch others go without.

I personally refuse to make rich people richer, whilst the less wealthy go without.

For that reason I shall no longer post any deals on hukd. "Sorry"

As I was told by a bulk buyer when I explained my feelings to them and the fact that I would no longer post deals on hukd because of bulk buying, I was messaged with:

"You will be solely missed" (Thumbs up icon)

I very much applaud your stand on this subject but it is an unfortunate fact of life to make"a quick profit".
It is what makes the world goes round.
I hope that you stay on HUKD or we shall all be the poorer for your departure.

It is a very cost effective solution if you have the space.

To be honest its very rare if at all that people are "deprived" of an essential item. If they can't afford a PS4 for example, and they miss out on a deal it would have been nice for them, but they'll get on fine without one.

You don't know people's personal circumstance.

Someone could be on the breadline and seizing a chance to make some money could be a lifeline for them.

They may be smarter trader or small shop owner who's business depends on cheap bulk buy opportunities in order to thrive.

Or you may just be greedy.

All you can do is post your deal and hope it has helped at least one other person like yourself. No point worrying over who has bought how many and why.

I hate the people who bulk buy things like electronics to sell on ebay, buying 20 cans of beans is fine tho so long as you dont live near me.

The ladt thing that annoyed me was the discount code for the zelda tshirts, that code was emailed out to everyone who bought the zelda mystery box which was frankly a very disappointing box, granted it was stupid of Nintendo to mail out a generic code to get a tshirt for 1.99 but thanks to hukd and whatever idiot it was eho decided to share the code the scalpers all got 1.99 tshirts intended for those of us who spent 24.99 on a disappointing mystery box. I shall say hand on heart I hate whoever posted that code it was a case of I'm alright jack screw everyone else as by the time I and others got home the tshirt was out of stock and despite emails nintendo refused to offer anything else to us.

Does it really matter?
We are a community that tries to help each other.
I think you are both equal.

Regardless of who posts more or less is irrelevant to me.

Helping people that need help is the important thing, this goes back to morals.

The sensitive subject is when money is at the heart of a debate.

Yes supply and demand, profit and loss, turn the wheels of the economy and some people love money. Lets be honest.

I then return to the reason what i thought hukd was about. That is passing on good deals so everyone has a chance to benefit from a good deal, rather than a solitary person who is in it for one thing, to make a quick buck (or pound here in the uk)

Perhaps I am wrong ? Perhaps we should all have a "I'm alright jack attitude"

That xbox a kid would love at christmas might just pop up on a deal on hukd, but hey, why not buy the lot and sod the kid who might love it at christmas and his mom or dad could only just scrape enough together if it was on offer (Not RRP)

People behave in different ways. Some are Nice, some ain't. Some people will do anything for money, others are more considerate. We could discuss it for ages.

What are we as individuals ?

My opinion is as I initially posted, is it really so hard, not to consider others ? or is that extra few quid, the be all and end all.

I'm off me soapbox now !

I need a cuppa, oh soddit "I will eat all the biscuits as well" the Mrs can go without ! (Supply and Demand) I will leave her one, because i'm kind that way.

Really? They offered me another tshirt for free, just had to pay £1.99 postage!

I wouldn't have thought the bulk buyers are considering others' feelings when buying their goodies - they want to buy cheap and sell for a profit, isn't that what all businesses do? Also, if people can't do their research more fool them. After the cheap PS4 deals Facebook buy and sell groups near me were flooded with them for more money. People were buying them despite the cheap PS4 deals still being available.

People will always try and turn a quick buck and to be honest fair play to them. It's not my thing but I can see the appeal.

So, to conclude (still awake everyone?) I think people have the right to buy what they like, there's a notion of 'the early bird catches the worm' here but I do secretly hope once in a while they get stuck with a job lot of rubbish they can't sell on!

They didnt offer me anything, thry just sent a generic email saying if you dont like what you buy you got x amount of days to send it back for a refund, no one I know on the Nintendo FB group I'm in got a tshirt and theres like 300 odd members about 5 of which were mugs who bought the mystery box

Thats not fair. I used the code, hadn't bought the box but in all honesty wasnt aware at the time of the reason the code was issued. They sent me a cancellation email for the first tshirt but included a discount code for another. Apologies that i was part of the reason you didnt get yours!

Yeah well they'd run out by the time I got home, I blame the person who posted it the email clearly stated it was an additional item for buying the mystery box (because so many people had moaned about the quality), 24.99 for a mug, multi tool, pen, notepad and badge set, tbh it looked like there was meant to be something more anyway as the box was only half full.

Some people buy in bulk with no desire to sell on.

I bought five boxes of Beef monster munch once for a quid a box and ate the lot (in the space of two weeks). I bought 15 400g bars of Galaxy chocolate last week from Tesco for 40p (reduced from £2) and thoroughly intend to eat them.

ALTHOUGH LET IT BE SAID, THE OP TO THIS POST HAS BEEN A MEMBER ONE WEEK AND POSTED THREE DEALS ALREADY! Kudos to them, we seem to have 100K people on this site who quite happily take and dont give anything back.

not everyone buys to sell on.
so if your not going to share anything theres no point being here.
or are you going to be a hypocrite and steal other peoples deals.
seeee yaaaa...........

When Tesco were selling a lot of heavily discounted stock in 2013 there was a guy in a particular store stood there with a big trolley, filling it with every item that would be worth reselling as soon as they restocked it. I went in the store in the afternoon and later at night hours later, and he was still in the same spot.

Said he was taking it all to CEX. He'd clearly not had a wash for a while either.

In the end a friend reminded me that even though its nice to get a bargain at least we don't have to do what he's doing and we could afford it at full price if we had to. Could the guy? Maybe not.

Not excusing the guy's behaviour but putting into perspective they seem to be onto a winner but really..are they?

I never buy to sell on, but have often bought in bulk and given my "winnings" to others

I do agree a little with the op

You should not do that either, thats like the woman on the programme about coupon using, ultimately fiddling with millions of coupons so you get a £50 shop is the same as clearing the shelf of mispriced chocolate, the costs will be passed on to customers in the end.

My philosophy is if I wasnt interested in it at full price dont bother buying it at a discount, its just clutter.
