Butlins, Minehead. Food any good?

Going on the 10th of October, a friend has recommended the food and said it was good value. So i phoned them to see how much it would be for the weekend and was quoted £54 each for Breakfast and evening meals. Has anyone ever negotiated a discount and more importantly is it worth the money? Where would i be able to eat otherwise? Minehead it self is not that big so has Butlins got a captive market?

Thanks

Theres a big 24 hour tesco within walking distance so it may be worth just buying what you fancy ,when you fancy. Nothing to stop you taking your own microwave if you don't feel like cooking!:lazy::lazy:

What about eating out though? Are the pubs expensive?

If you leave until a week before you go the price will come down a little but previously I have found there is no negotiation!

There is a large choice of foods - my kids just loved the idea of going up to the counter and helping themselves. The only down side I found was that there was not a lot of vegetable choice and I do like me vege!! But for a weekend it certainly saves some hassle.

There is Pizza hut and a few other eateries there which I weren't particularly more expensive than the high street, however I did take my own drinks as I think £1 or more for a squash is a bit on the steep side, especially when the kids seem to drink for England when we are away!

When we took the kids there, we ate out. (food was naf and expensive for what it was.)

Pub in the high street "Hairy Dog" was about the best. Nice garden and huge wooden fort / climbing tree house. Food was pretty good and not too expensive.
