Just looking at this medicine I am taking and it says it contains alcohol!! I have a bad cough/cold and I dont drink alcohol at all and prob a stupid question, but is it ok to drive after drinking this medicine?

The medicine says 2.3 vol% ethanol ie up to 91mg per 5ml dose, equivalent to 2.3ml of 5% beer or 0.96ml of 12% wine per 5ml dose

Thanks

Of course it does, Loads of medicines have alcohol in them. Its not like the ale you'll find in the pub, its pure alcohol, which happesn to be very good at killing bacteria and disinfecting things..

I never knew it had alcohol in it either. Its good medicine. It says non drowsy on it. So should be ok then?

Many of the active ingredients used in medicines are extracted in alcohol (ethanol) before being diluted. The amount of alcohol getting into your body is tiny - so you can drive etc after taking.

You have reminded me of a time when I was a kid and I found a couple of bottle's of buttercup medicine disgarded in a toilet cubicle.

They must have been getting drunk in there
