Hey,

I have decided to buy a netbook but don't really have a clue what one to buy!

I need it to do the following things:

- Needs to be small enought to fit in my college bag with loads of other sh*t!
- Be light and portable (Have to take to college everyday which is a 45min walk there and back)
- I need to be able to write long word documents with it.
- It need to be able to work well with XP machines aswell as Vista
- It would be good if it could run Visual Basic (Programming program) but not necessary.
- It would be good but not necessary if it could also run pro desktop (CAD program)
- Battery life not that important but would like it to run for at least a couple of hours...

Not sure about money say about £200 to £350!? (cheaper the better though ;P)

So what would you guys recommend?

Hit me with some links :D

thanks

My friend bought this at the weekend. But does anyone know how do you install Microsoft Office if there isn't a disc drive? It has a 60 day free trial.

Looking for the same too. The Tesco one seems good offer. No idea what HP are like and only 2 hr battery. Have heard some have battery of up to 8hrs, are they the ones that cost £500?

For the difference in price, could cope with shorter battery.

There are various deals posted on HotUKDeals just now for Netbooks - the prices vary but there were several going from £180.00p upwards, with some good deals to be had on them (especially with the Windows 7 Netbooks coming out).

If you need a handy with finding them please give us a shout and I can post the links in, as I did this for another member recently as well.

Edit - Here's a link to the other thread I pasted in links to active deal threads.

Most netbooks have an SD card slot , my Asus1000H has . Just install software from this. I use a external HDD through a USB port . I installed Office , Autoroute and mp3 software using this method.
