Its either a corsa or a focus or fiesta. I currently have an old corsa - which is ok and a nice size to drive. (I think i am a good driver, although im not great at parking!) Im worried a focus may be too big although not sure. What does everyone think? I need to think about insurance as well. I have around £3000 to spend.

focus all day long.
but i now like my scooby
normal focus think group 5 which is low

For me the old shape fiesta would be the one seeing as they have just updated it the older model will be well priced and insurance and repairs/servicing should be quite cheap. The focus is nice i had one and the drive really well but unless you do lots of miles stick with the Fiesta it's cheaper to run!

definitely a focus. best car i've ever driven, and i drove some fantastic company cars in work.
only downside with the focus is poor visibility when reversing

Whichever you choose, don't tell them you have sooo much money - now is the time to grab an absolute bargain - I reckon you could knock a £3750 down to £3000 if you are hard enough and go to the right place at the moment!!

Thanks everyone!! Im no good at knocking them down so may take my dad with me to help! If its me I will end up paying full price!

I've had a 1.4 focus and it was great. low on the insurance aswell. I now have a meriva and love that , its great on insurance aswell but depended on which one I went for
I'd deffinately have another focus though they're good cars
I think the same aswell that with this credit crunch, you'll get a good bargain at the moment good luck with what you choose

I love my Corsa design and wouldnt change it but the new Mazda looks as good

A Focus definitely!

I'm not normally a Ford fan but my partner’s Ford Focus is great to drive and quite nippy too, I think it's a Zetec.

I love people pointing out it's a zetec engine, I ask them what does that mean they say "I don't know, but it's a Zetec" ohhh errr brill :whistling: It's a freaking ford at the end of the day :w00t:

btw had to look this up but it refers to the Zeta family of Ford engines dating back to 1992  In 1995 it received a small modification to fix sticking valves, it was now called Zetec.

1600 petrol focus. And they generally hold their value... The most common problems with these are leaking core plugs - which isn't a particular expensive job - you could get another few hundred quid knocked off for this easily...

In the UK it is a trim level more than anything, like titanium, titanium-x, ghia and ghia-x.

its both :) but most now have the duratec engine even if they're the zetec model

1.4 Focus is generally considered underpowered, the better one is the 1.6

Can be quite pricy though, and at your price are going to be quite old. Possibly just about the newer shape. I've seen an 06 Mondeo go for £3000 on Autotrader a few weeks back, that'd probably be a better bet

Dont go for the corsa, my mum has one and i managed to write it off 2 weeks ago!!!, the visibility is a nightmare all round (and no it wasnt my fault) it has been recalled 3 times so far, it is 58 plate, first was a problem when the automatic stuck in park, 2nd was the boot locked itself and wouldnt open and the third was another problem with the gearbox sticking, all in 2 years, mind you its dead now and shes going back to a micra!!

I have not the foggiest but appreciate what you've stated. That said; the modern Focus Zetec range are better than the lower range. In fact my partner's Focus has all round disc brakes for starters and a higher/better spec than some which are rather basic to say the least! I She has a 1.8 Zetec and remember prior to purchasing this particular model that the 1.4 and 1.6 seemed less nippy/sluggish.

Internal combustion is old technolgy

i'd personally not buy either of the three, but if i had to, it'd be a focus.
why not get a mk4 vs golf? you'd pick up a 1.4match in a 52/03 plate for £3k now. great car

Just ordered the new Fiesta Zetec, get a good deal while you can, took it for a test drive and is a very good car.

And at the min they are fitting them with Free Bluetooth if you buy before 31st March
