Buying a Van, sounds too good to be true on gumtree... pls advice

dear all,

I really really need an adivce on this matter, i wanted to buy this van, which i found on gumtre. Its really a good reasonable price. I emailed them to get in touch see if i could view the van and so on. Recieved reply saying he is out of the country and would close the deal with me using a safe method which is using MONEY GRAM. I know nothing about it.

This is the email i got from him.

-----------------
"I have something safe for you because I want you to be sure that
you will receive the car.i`m ready to send you the car but i must have a warranty for my side too.
Here is how we gona handle the deal:
I will offer you a way to receive the car before i get my money..
You will have to deposit the money via Money Gram on any name and address
in United Kingdom from your name to let`s say your brother name or one of your relatives name.
Its very easy to use no bank account or something else to delay our transaction.
You can handle a Money Gram transfer in 5 minutes.
As soon as i will have the receipt of the transfer and see you done it i will ship the car right away to your name and address with a shipping company and you will receive it in 8-10 days.
I will pay for delivery cost.
After you will get the car and inspect it you just change the receiver`s name of the
transfer into mine so i can pick up the money and get paid
In this way you will have 100% safety for your money and i will ensure that i`m dealing with a serious buyer ready to pay for my car.
So..the real payment will be made only upon receipt of the car.
Only after you will receive the car and check it, if it is ok you will
have to change the receiver`s name of the transfer to my name so i can collect my
money.
So until you will have the car received , the money will be deposited on
Money Gram to your brother name or relatives name.
Also, you will have 5 days, time to check the car,and if you are not satisfied you can
return it and get your money back instead of releasing the payment to me.
You can go to your mechanic for inspection to confirm you that the car
is OK and to Police so they can tell you that the car it's not stolen
or something like that.
If you dont like it..you`ll return it and get your money back with no
costs.
Please give me a reply if you accept the deal in this way .
Kind Regards
-----------------

Please advice if this email makes sense in anyway...

Thanks

Is it not worth reporting them to stop someone else falling for this?

i was thinking the same... but to whom? i know gumtree wont take any responsibility. And im so sure there are many others who would be falling in this scam...

just 'report' to gumtree by using their link..
#19
lol why would some1 pay £100 to ship to another country just so u can have a look at it?
then say u didnt want it, you will have to pay £100 to ship it back.

Plus why would he tell you all about payment etc, if you just asked to view the car?

If anyone fell for this, they deserve to lose thier money.......
