buying an item through paypal fees?

am buying a laptop off a user on here and i just want some protection now insead of paying with ppg can i pay through paypal payment and would i be protected and is there any chance i cn pay the fees? x

also what protection would i have x

You can increase your payment to the seller so that after the commission is taken by PayPal for the service the seller receives the agreed amount.

I use the PPCalc web site (see below) to calculate the amount due based on what you wish the recipient to have in their account after the transaction, but it has not been updated for a while so the fees may be out of date:

Regarding protection for your payment, my response with be very negative against PayPal due to past experiences [plural] with their decision to take the side of the other party. I have lost money & goods, as well as having my account suspended due to fraudulent PayPal members I had the misfortune of trading with.

I suggest you wait for other responses & draw your own conclusions.

you are only covered for item not being delivered and not item not as described, personally I'd ask them to ebay it and offer to pay the fees etc.
