Definately wait, they're getting cheaper all the time with the introduction of LED.

i think it is worth waiting- with new LED and 3D tvs, the plasma and lcds are definitely going to go down. You might find some better deals this bank holiday if you are in a hurry to buy something- shops tend to have many instore deals too. If not just waiting is the best option.

TV's will only ever get cheaper, especially as the technology gets older.ie LCD will be even more old hat by Christmas.

Plus if you buy it now the warranty will be eaten into by the time you use it.

i was thinking about the warranty, might be a good idea to get it out the box and try it first, make sure it works

Be carefull if your buying a freeview lcd/plasma a lot of set which are cheap are ones with the standard freeview tuner if you want hd you must buy a set with a freeview HD TUNER not all areas have freeview hd transmissions yet !

i wouldnt buy till at least december, remember after 28 days they can offer a repair, within 28 days you can get a replacement, dont waste warranty with it sat in the box

why dont you try and purchase it whilst their away, and set it up for them for when they get back, i know its september but i am sure an early xmas pressie would still be as appreciated as it would be on xmas day
