Ok maybe iam a bit old fashioned here but how do people sleep at night knowing they are ripping people of on this much sought after game.Yes they are in short supply, but if it wasn't for people buying up to sell on to others that in some cases can ill afford one then the short supply wouldn't be half as bad.I'll tell you it really beats me,well no more than that pisses me right off.No iam not after one myself as i have no interest in them but i know of people that are and in some cases can ill afford to pay over the odds but do just to see there kids with a smile on there faces.People that just buy them to sell at totally inflated prices want to look at themselfs and think how they might feel in the same situation.Right that's my rant over and hope what goes around certainly comes back around.

You can't really blame people for taking advantage of this. The people you should be blaming is Nintendo - there have been shortages for over a year and they still haven't sorted out supply problems. Seems to me they might be using a shortage as a marketing ploy......

No - I haven't bought a Wii to re-sell it - thought about it but can't be bothered....
#2
It only resells for a lot because that is what people are prepared to pay, I certainly wouldnt pay over RRP just to get it for xmas.
#3
Yep i agree it has been in short demand for over a year, but with people buying them up in multiples maybe have made it in shoter supply than it could have been.We could all jump on the bandwagon for a few quid on this but i for one like to sleep at night knowing i haven't help spoil someones xmas.
#4
i think the supply problem has been down to the fact the wii sells well all year rather than just up to christmas.

Yes but only the people that can afford to pay over the top, where have peoples consciences gone.Sad society we live in today i guess.

Bobby can I ask what age group you are in please ?
And no, I'm not being sarcastic just interested.
#7
What gets to me is the vermin on here who see a hotdeal link, buy the wii, then try to flog it on here at some insane price.
#8
Well if i could get a hold of a wii i would deffo sell it for more ! need all the money ya can get arround christmas ! and people will pay !

sorry but thats just the way people are.... driven by money :)
#9
yeh some people do it for the need of money.
#10
I got mine 2 months ago after the Missus told me to as she heard it was gonna be hard to get them in November/December. However had I not got one I'd of happily payed upto £300 for one as I'd rather shell out the extra £120 than have a dissapointed little princess on Xmas day. Saying that If I found one in stock now anywhere, I would buy it offer it to family or close friends for rrp, if no interest I would flog it on at a profit.

Why not? I wouldn't force anyone to buy it, but like I said I would of payed someone upto £300 for one had I not of got one earlier.
If people are prepared to pay it why shouldn't I make a bit of cash? Online comapnys such as overclockers and simplygames are charging silly prices for new ones and CEX are charging barmy prices for used ones.

If cheeky then sorry, I was just trying to work out why you were getting so uptight about something that is so fundamental to our society. I thought you were maybe younger.

All the while we live in a capatilist society driven by consumerism you will never change those fundamentals.
People will always pay for what they want. It's just supply and demand.

If parents really think that by buying their little Ken's and Barbie's goods at overinflated prices will win them their love then more fool them.
It's not worth you getting upset about mate :)

Yep maybe you would pay £300 had you not got one,but what if you couldn't afford to pay over the odds.My point is many many can't because of the likes of you that would buy one up just to resell.Sorry but i think it is really sad,but as they say a fool and his money are soon parted.People have been buying them up all year just to resell at a nice profit, that's why they have been in short supply.

Not so much upset as don't like to see people ripped off.Reckon it must be a status thing to [pay over the top so you can bragg or something.I just say if you pay over the top then you must be a mug:whistling:

But I can afford to pay over the odds, and If I couldn't I would beg/steal/borrow so that my daughter didn't wake up on Xmas morning wii-less. I remember being 7 or 8 and expecting an Optimus Prime (G1) for xmas, I never got it and was gutted until my birthday on Jan 2nd when I did get him.

How can they be getting ripped off if they know the RRP and are willing to pay the inflated price ? That's exactly what supply and demand is. :)

You may well have a point with the rest

If I cant afford somthing I dont buy it, and choose somthing more affordable.

Buy you kid a Slimline PS2 instead, much MUCH better, and considerably cheaper.

People in a capitalist country making profit, whoever knew.
banned#25
its called good old fashioned greed
#26
I completely agree Bobbybox - but more fool the people that buy them when they are so expensive. I went without at Christmas when I was a kid, and it has not done me any harm. I would never have had a wii if I'd asked for one. Parents are crazy to spend £350 plus on a computer console for a Christmas present.

Aside from that, I would really like one for myself, but I point blank refuse (can't afford to) get one at that price. If people who buy them to sell can sell them at a ridiculous price, it says more about the consumers than it does the sellers.
#27
and don't you think it's a great tactic from Nintendo? Another Christmas when there aren't enough... makes people more desperate to have something they probably wouldn't normally bother with. It's the hype and stock shortage which makes them sell more, not necessarily the actual console.

It's a great PR stunt............but...........despite the lack of stock it is still outselling both the 360 and PS3.

Bobby, While you are on this subject.

Can you nip around to my local Tesco and have a word with them too.

The thing is I love their cashew nuts, but they seem to buy them cheaper and then sell them to me for £1.09. I know they are buying them cheaper than I am paying.

Come to think of it, same goes for my washing power/cheese/in fact everything.......

Damn these shops buying things cheap and selling on for a profit....How do the Chief Execs sleep at night.......
#31
To be honest I do the same if someone is willing to give me more for then Wii then I brought it for then why not it means a little bit of extra money for myself that can go towards paying my bills.

The person that started this post was complaining about the over top prices that people are paying for a Wii?

Well its no different when the Sony PS3 came out is it?
Or what about buying tickets to say england football or rubgy match, i remember one woman was charging £1,000 each for 4 tickets when interviewed on TV when england got into the final.

People are silly enough to pay these prices and will carry on to do so, untill this "must have it" stops then high prices like Wii will be common.

And Businesses have to start somewhere......

The bottom line is, ppl who are lazy will pay silly prices.

I wanted a Wii for an xmas present and got one last week with very minimal effort.

So If I can do it, other ppl can.

If they want to pay an extra £150 for someone else to buy it, and post it onto them then so be it. There is nothing ethically wrong with that.
#35
Three words.......Supply and demand. It's what makes the world go round.

If you can make money out of re-selling Wiis then good luck to you. Its no different to a market trader, a corner shop or Tescos.

My point exactly, but im apparantly an 'iriot' for stating that.
#37
yes but surely that's along the same lines of buying concert tickets and then reselling them at a ridiculous price because they have sold out. I'm not a fan of people who do that.
#38
I can understand the OP, I wouldnt mind if someone bought someone say bought a few wiis with their monthly wages, then sold them for profit as they needed more than they earned to survive(unless it was their own fault getting loads of loans and overspending)

People get too greedy nowadays, the rich become richer, one excuse I heard when I asked someone what if someone struggled to save the rrp of an item, and they said if they struggled to afford it at retail price then they shouldnt buy one anyway as they cant afford to buy games for it.

And 07Sanchez there is a ethical problem, its the same as ticket touts, they buy them cheap then sell them on for massive profits as they know people want them.

And think about it, there is loads of upset children because their parents couldnt afford to pay the over inflated costs for one.

I have seen a few wii's in a local computer shop for RRP but I left them there as I didnt want to sell them for profit.

I dont mind say a ps3 game RRP £40 and someone sees one cheap for £5 in Tesco's then sells on here for £20 as they have made a bigger effort id say also, and its still under RRP, but I dont like when some people buy things from here on the hot deals section then sell for profit that isnt good sportsmanship and its not like seeing 1 or 2 in a shop, many order bulk loads then sell on, when the mistake on the Tesco deal came out it was reported someone ordered 39 of the console, thats greed.

I suggest bring your kids up different. I have been very lucky to get one from the argos deal last month but had i not i would not pay over the odds. If my child lost love for me over christmas because of it then i would have to look at my parenting skills and probably try to change. I know (last year i wanted the pink ds that was in short supply) that my child would be happy to wait and to get something that would not be hanging over me for the next twelve months worrying how i was going to pay.

Also if i had a spare wii i would also think of making a profit on it so that it eased the pain that all parents feel at christmas. Its not the peoples fault (only being human) , its the maker of these, nintendo. Buying and selling is what some people actually do for a living.
