Buying item on ebay

Hi, I am looking for a bit of advice. My other half has seen a trike on ebay he would like to buy. Item 330086091538. The price seems unbelievably cheap considering the model and age (they usually retail for around £16/17k). There is no reserve and buyer wants paying by PayPal.

I feel something is not right although he does have excellent feedback and other similar items for sale. Am I right to be concerned.

If you look at sellers other items, he is also selling 3 other trikes & 1 bike all at the same price?:?

Ask the seller if you could clllect it if you win it and pay cash. If they say no don't waste your time on it.
Looks like a scam but........

SCAM SCAM DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM!!!

Also you have got 2 days left for auction end. Contact ebay now explaining the situation, include item number and they will pull it, I would say they would let you know if it's ok but the probably won't.

But as Dino says, contact the seller directly through contact a seller question and ask them if you can view it. Tell them you will bring the cash with you and purchase on the day.

If they do not reply or tell you some BS story then go ahead and report it to eBay. It looks like the sellers account has been hijacked to me as they have only ever sold a few bits of clothing recently. They are mainly a buyer and not a seller.

I've just sent the seller this by email and ASQ:-

Hi,
I'm going to bid on this.
When/if I win I'd like to collect and pay cash, I take it that will be OK?

Kind Regards,
Steve.

Flippin eck, PS Support does work, sometimes :whistling: :whistling:

Anyway,
I received this reply to my email from this scammer:-

Thank you for your interest regarding my bike.

The bike was purchased new and I am the only owner. Always been very well maintained with very little use. Adult driven and have not been abused (i.e. no creeks, etc...). Are in excellent condition. Everything is original. My wife was recently promoted so we had to move in Finland,Helsinki. We brought the bike with us, wanting to register them here. The bike is bought from UK and are made for UK market. So that is why I prefer to sell them quick now and get rid of them while I still can, because time is running and I can't keep it like that, there is a deadline term when I must pay the import tax, so I can't afford to lose time and I prefer to make some money while I still can.
But that wont be a problem because will be shipped from here with GH Transporting and will take 4-5 days to arrive to your address.

The price of my bike is 4,500.00GBP
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request ONLY secure pay. I prefer the payment will be done through eBay Buyer Protection Program. I have to let you know that I want the payment prior shipping since I will ship it in the same day or next day the payment is complete. Also you have nothing to worry about because this deal will be done ONLY VIA SECURE WAY. The most important thing in all my activity here is that I am affiliated at eBay Buyer Protection Program, I have a purchase protection account for GBP10,000.00 and I assume you know what this means. In case we will close this deal, you are protected by eBay. How you are protected by eBay ?, well ,in case you will not receive the bike as I described to you, eBay will refund you with 100% from the whole amount which you paid to me. But this won't be the case. One conclusion, you are protected. Let me know if you want to buy, so we can close the deal ASAP with eBay protection for your money.
If you decide to go further let me know ASAP and when I have all the information provided by you (full name, e-bay ID and shipping address), I will going to contact eBay and they will going to handle the financial transaction for me.
Please replay me with your full name of the bike that you want.

Thank you

Hi, why don't you request his personal details from ebay, you should get his address and phone number, however he will also get yours ( you could log on to your account and change your details slightly before requesting tho ) then change them back when you receive his details.

Welcome to HUKD
You cannot request his details unless you have had a trade with him.

I did in fact email him last night, pretending I did not know it was a scam stating that by coincidence I would be in Finland over the weeked and asked for his address there so I could collect and pay in cash. This is the response I received:-

Hi Helen, well the bike is at the shipping company and the shipping has started, so i will need you to make a direct payment to eBay and after i will receive a confirmation i will talk with the shipping company to send you the bike, you will also have a refund policy if you have any problem with the car or you will NOT receive the bike in 20 days. In order to move forward with this transaction i will need your full name, shipping address and eBay id.

Cheers!
