Buying items from US companies who dont ship internationally

Hi

I want to buy a few electrical items from a company in the United States who dont ship to the UK. I've heard that there are people in the US who allow you to send your items to their address and then they send it on to you in the UK for a certain amount of commission based on the value of the items.

Has anyone heard of this? If so, can someone recommend a reliable service they have used in the past.

Many thanks

I've tried to find info on HM Customs site but can't find a thing so not 100% concrete, but that link I gave is from the European Union so seems to be legit enough. ;-)
