I have around 1.25k to play with, I want to put my money on lloyds partially (maybe altogether) but I'm not too sure if there are any other companies I should be thinking of? :)

Any suggestions welcome!

Yup I agree! I've researched lloyds and their current trading seems ok, with the merger and if they pay back the government shares it should make shares sore :)

I've had AUL in my watchlist for a year, since the days of 30p, wish I had dabbled.

It all depends how risky you want to be.

It's all a gamble, some you win, some you lose.

Why don't you have a look at Gold, In particular Centamin Egypt, (ticker code CEY.L) I put in £4k last year when it was £1.22 now its £1.66 and rising.

Aren't BP due to sign a big deal with Russia? Would that have an effect on shares?

Look at some of the smaller oil/mining companies like Victoria Oil VOG and Tristar TSTR. In my opinion, that's where there is money to be made, but you MUST do your own research.

even the research can be misleading but always worth doing, try not to go too much towards recommendations but more on facts.

here is a point of view on how it works with some truth, read slamdunkin post #113 - http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/sharedealers-what-are-you-into-at-t/739783?page=6

ps also try and get it thru a broker that doesn't charge for inactivity

Markets are closed, infact BP finished 0.83% down friday 4.30pm lse close, get in early monday 8am and you might make some money through the day, will be in auction 7.50am thou, so the big boys will get in 1st and so by 8am open the sp will be up anyway, you might even get some selling, as the saying goes buy the rumour, sale the news, but imo they will go up through the day, dyor.

Apple are dominating as always, and they are going to do so even more so soon. Although they are expensive ( 340$ ish) and not likely to rise massively... so its up to you - but research well mate and good luck
