oh right thanks

They have two premiership football packages next year, then just one for 2010-2012.

Reports are they are going to sell the rights to ESPN, if they are allowed by the FA??

Who knows, all I know is the hassle i had in cancelling with them last year after a cheap trial, they deserve it..

Well if they sell as a going concern, they could continue to take the subs I suppose.

Keep checking the site for information. Click the new subscriptions link, and you will see the page has been taken down, also the phone number for taking new subs is not taking calls.

Keep a eye on it, and see what happens in the morning.

I know a few people who specifically subscribe with virgin over sky as setanta is included free with the top package on virgin... I wonder how this will effect virgins business??
#17
got what they deserved..

...I guess no one in this country will lose their jobs.

Everytime I called to cancel I was transferred to India.

The sods just took a dd from me last friday lol looks like ill be getting the test card to watch for my £12.99
#20
my dd is due on mon (15th) thats why i want to cancel it before then as i dont want to give them money and not have my channel plus after finding out i have been paying 15 for 4 years now and everyone else is cheaper but the phone number is,nt working at all and i have checked the website and like you say its not letting you contact them!
#21
Damn - just checked my statement and they have just taken my £12.99 out today (10.06.09) thats the earliest they have ever taken it out. It usually goes out on the 14th each month. Guess I should cancel my DD for next month now then. Do we pay for a service in advance or in arrears? If they go into liquidation today can i claim my £12.99 back?
#22
Mine came out on the 08.06.09 ........ do you think it's worth cancelling the DD today?
#23
i,m thinking to cancel mine today as its normally the 15th but they could take it early a suppose! hubby dosent want me to cancel as he says he dosent want to lose his sport and they could get rescued! what do i do guys any ideas? thanks
#24
WTF I pay for Setanta :(
#25
If you go through as a new customer to subscribe, the 'subscription terms and conditions' tab will not allow you to click on it. Hmmmmmmmmm .........

When you call to speak to the customer services it's saying,

'we are experiencing extremely high call volume due to the popularity of our events today' ............. ha ha ha ha ha classic.
#27

Can't blame them really, interest free loan ....erm ....no....
#28
wouldnt it be funny if people started to ring now to join setanta...i bet that will really p*ss them off
#29
i blame sly

even the packages sulkana had, sly sports have nicked

sky should become a content provider or a broadcaster

their monopoly outweighs microsoft in comparison

ultimately, i blame david haye . .

I like the slating Setanta gets from the BBC News readership here. Seems to echo our collective experiences nicely.

The one thing I don't get is the sympathy that people have for the people losing their jobs. Maybe I'm just cold, but I say f 'em. Who do you think it is that lies to you with their retention deals, doesn't stop the system taking payments from your account, and who totally ignores your requests that they don't call you again, asking you to come back after you've sucessfully quit? Yeah, them. I'd feel sorry for them if they were good workers who did what we customers told them to do, but they chased their bonuses too hard, screwed us over in the process, and they've largely brought this fail upon themselves, it seems to me.

As someone who used to work for Setanta, there were no bonus' and a hell of alot of the time the computer systems were down. I was honest with people when I worked there, and put through all the call back request things.

It's the management that were the problem. useless bunch of idiots. I got told off by one of the MD's and walked out, all because I was honest with a customer who was trying to cancel. I was on the subscriptions only line (we were all convinced that there were only 2 staff in the cancellations dept.)

Fair play.

But, no bonuses? Why then did your co-workers keep calling us back to try and get us to sign back up after we'd quit? I just don't see why it takes me shouting abuse down the phone to get them to stop, when asking nicely plenty of times failed completely. It's the sort of thing that tells me that they could've stopped the calls at any time, but just didn't want to, and the only reason I can see for that to be the case is that there's a big wad of cash telling them to ignore me.

If you give your bank a call today - tell them you cancelled it with Setanta and they have still taken the payment, they should return the payment to you (under the Direct Debit guarantee) but it might take a day or so to get back in your account...

Do it NOW though before they go into administration and you join the list of credittors...

It ended up being targets in order for people to keep their jobs.

Setanta will still hold the rights to the games package they have bought, they will supply the rights to other companies. ESPN have been sniffing around the Premier League for a while now. Sky have rejected the option of taking over the rights as Setanta wanted £50 Million up front. Ultimately Setanta as a broadcaster will die, but Setanta the broadcast rights holder will continue. I just expect to have to subscribe to ESPN for the 46 matches next season (23 matches from 2011).
#37
I'm kind of glad we were relegated..!

As I understand it, setanta currently owe the FA £30 million in a unpaid bill, so the FA could call breach of contract and resell them to ESPN themselves.

So they;d be getting fired if they didn't ignore a customer's request not to be called back?
