I've had this problem a couple of times now...onto my 4th one!!!

The last time I took it in for repair (2 weeks or so ago after doing a post on here about what to do) they couldn't fix it in the timescale so sent another new one!

Apparently if you complain they offer you another handset? Or so I'm led to believe on a FS/FT thread!

I must say, I'm still hanging on to my trusty D900, thats never let me down in all the years I've had it! I think I made the wrong decision on this phone...but when other half is due his upgrade later this year I might give him this c905 and pinch his new upgrade :p

Is there anything in the contract for o2 that allows you to change the heandset for another?

Ive read that there is nothing but issues for the speaker breaking and the keypad sticking :)

I think it only applies within the first 7/14 days.....you could always stand your ground with them and threaten them with trading standards? lol
[helper]#12
lol dont think that would work, them knowing about the problem should tell them to change the handset for something else

If the Iphone 3G had a better camera i would have it in a snap :)

Same with the w580! There was a common fault with the keys cracking but they say they 'recalled' them and issued new batches!
[helper]#14
has there been anything with the C905? like have the recalled any of them to fix the issue of the keypads or speakers?
why does such a massive company like SE release something that isnt proven to have no faults, did they not test loads of them together for ages lol

I think I remember seeing someone say on here that they were shipping 'new' batches. No mention of re-calls though! It's just daft, honestly!
[helper]#16
apparently

"Nathan Vautier, Sony Ericsson managing director of the UK and Ireland has said Sony Ericsson understand there are specific quality issues on early batches of the C905 produced in 08 and Sony Ericsson rapidly implemented steps to resolve the issue such as speaker problems. Vautier went on to say that Sony Ericsson will continue to work hard to restore the quality standards expected on Sony Ericsson handsets."

so maybe there is new versions with the problems fixed........maybe lol :)

I'm with Vodafone...first time I sent it back direct as it was within 7 days, 2nd was fixed, 3rd sent for repair and they replaced as they couldn't fix within the timescale....so fingers crossed they might just replace yours to save the hassle
[helper]#20
fingers crossed, ill take a note of the serial number to make sure :)

Let me know how you get on

The '08 models were prone to problems but if you get a 2009 model then it is guaranteed fine.

o2 replace the handsets :) in some cases they wont even ask for the faulty one back.

this was the reply from SE

"We are sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with your Sony Ericsson C905.

From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you that you send your Sony Ericsson handset to our service location to be examined by our authorised service engineers. The turnaround time for this process is currently 3-5 working days, from when the repair centre receives the handset. We offer apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please do not send your SIM card, and if the problems are unrelated to the battery, memory card, charger, or back cover, do not send these parts either. It may be the case that user data is lost during a repair, therefore we recommend backing up any data to your SIM card, memory card, or PC before sending.

[helper]#26

we will see what i get back :)
[helper]#27
How did yo find that out DCX ?
[helper]#28
dcx_badass
All Sony Ericsson's (and Ericsson's aswell) have it printed on the sticker behind the battery, most the numbers are junk but look for something like this 09W17 that's the manufacturing date, it is also used to work out your two year warranty if you don't have a receipt.

ahhhh ok thanks for that, ill check when i get my phone back:thumbsup:
[helper]#29
cool, ill see what one i get back lol
[helper]#30
just had a call from the o2 shop, its ready to be collected

[helper]#31
Ok got the mobile back (they sent a brand new one) and noticed something new on it, there is conversations
when your texting someone its like a conversation

iv got the 09W04, must be a new version
[helper]#32
hmmmm

how do you get into the bit where it shows you if its unlocked? think its somthing like left right up up up ...blah blah!

didnt get a card, just the phone, and yes there is new things on the phone like walk mate and photo mate etc
[helper]#33
thanks dcx :)

iv got the new R1DA032 version, iv been told there is a newer version with you tube in the applications list,
R1E version

hmmmm
[helper]#34
dcx have you got the SMS Conversation application which lets you enjoy text messaging chat-style ?

menu>messaging>conversations?

my mate just downloaded the new R1E version from the SE website and it still didnt give him the conversation bit...just inbox meesages thats all
[helper]#35
its came back with the software version R1DA032 which now has the function of the SMS conversation which is brilliant.
My mate has done the same and received his phone back, I checked his version and it’s exactly the same version to mine and he does not have the SMS conversation function.

I told him he might have to download the newest one from your website, which we did....
The new version is R1E which still does not have the SMS conversation; did SE forget to put it in the newest update? He really liked that function and now that i have it he is pretty peaved off hahaha
