Cabin allowance with EasyJet

mutley1mutley1

We are flying to Portugal in December with EasyJet. This is the first time I have ever flown with a budget airline so I wonder what the hand luggage allowance is?

We have paid for 2 bags which I assume mean the 2 suitcases for the hold but are they strict on your hand luggage?

Some of the airlines don't weigh the hand luggage as long as it fits into their measurement cage but what is EasyJet's policy does anyone know?

You can take one piece of hand baggage into the cabin with you -no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm incl wheels- which must fit comfortably into the baggage gauge.
Hand bags, briefcases, laptops and laptop bags are all counted as one piece so if you have a hand bag and a laptop bag for example, you might want to consider putting one inside the other.

Dunno. Got that off the easyjet site, nothing on there about weight.

They have no weight limit on hand baggage. As long as it fits in the prescribed size

We are flying with them on Monday. I thought it was limited to 20kg until I read the details above.

from easyjet "no weight restriction applies to the one item of Hand Baggage within reasonable limits - i.e. a passenger must be able to place and retrieve the one item of Hand Baggage safely in the overhead storage lockers without assistance. On occasion it may be necessary to impose a weight limit for operational reasons. In this instance Your Hand Baggage will be placed in the aircraft hold at no additional charge provided You have complied with all applicable Baggage requirements and limitations contained in Our Terms and Conditions."

As others have said, you are allowed one piece of hand luggage with no weight restriction. The limit is the size and they will get you to place it in the container at the boarding gate if they think it might not fit. On a recent flight I overheard them talking to each other about their targets per flight. Each person they catch. will be paying a hefty surcharge.

They were even saying your duty free bags were an item of hand luggage, so bare that in mind... keep some space in the bag to fit any duty free purchases.

Obviously some gate staff are more friendly than others, but I saw this first hand at Gatwick a few weeks back - albeit the first time I'd seem that happen. Not worth the hassle or costs!
