Im going to make my daughters christening cake but needed 2 different sized cake tins as its a 2 tier cake..the bottom one will be approx 12"(30cm) and the top one 7" (18cm) and they would need to be square. Has anyone got any collecting dust they dont mind parting with???!! Will pay by paypal gift..thanks

Hi Mamamia,
Instead of buying cake tins I have lined and used pyrex dishes then cut the cake to size, specific sizes can be expensive.Another option if no-one has any is to look at Lakeland plastics as they have a tin with a sortof divider to creat several different size cakes. Some bakeries/markets hire cake tins out.
Just a few alternative ideas.
Hi mamamia7 :)
have you tried looking in Poundland? Also an old Quality Street tin might work.
I make alot of celebration cakes and have slowly converted to using silicone cake moulds rather than tins, they are much easier to handle, you can often pick them up quite reasonably at home and bargain, :) otherwise try your local freecycle group, you may find someone local who will gift you some tins/moulds.
have just put add on freecycle..thanks
I make and decorate cakes for a living but when i first started i found it very useful to hire my tins. Do you have a local cake shop that could help you , they normally hire them for a pound or two per night.
Where about are you ?
