Jump to unread Post a CommentI spent mine with my daughter who goes back to pre-school on Tuesday (and is more than ready to go, I think I'm boring her!!)
I've sooooo many plans this year, how many will actually happen I don't know but it will certainly a bumpy ride!
2 things are certain - I'm seeing steps with my bestie in April an in August going home for a week and going to Cardiff with my father to catch some Men's Olympic Semi-Final Football. After that, in Sept my princess will be starting Reception at school.
Good times to come
I'll just copy what I said on the 'old, past-it' (hehe) thread, to here:
Hello all .. hope that 2012 has started well for everyone. How are you poorly ones? Fighting with strong immunity I hope.
Pause to sneeze, myself.. but I think it's just the contrast between the kitchen - like a sauna with cooking the meal and mince pies - and the study, where I am now.
We had rain..... pretty much all day but only a drizzle for the dog walk, so I can't complain. There was a pink sky tonight , so I am hopeful.
Yes, thej, all the dross that you get on the telly and they pull one of the best ever. I think we'll have to revisit Serenity again as well.
Holmes is back on tonight, so we will sit down and watch that and then that's pretty much the end of the festive season for us. g/f goes back tomorrow.
So, we watched Sherlock and thought it was pretty good but maybe trying a bit too hard, then we watched 'Felix and Murdo', rather hit and miss but some hilarious bits - worth watching (and look out for the feast with the prospective in-laws). Earlier on I saw that C4 Tsunami programme of videos made by people caught up in it all - fearsomely terrifying. As you can tell, I have had a very lazy evening.
Just now I have ordered what should be most of the presents I should give this year, from the M&S sale. I do this every year and somehow or other, they get dished out and I am left needeing to buy more.
READY ANSWER = NEW YEARS DAY!
Sounds like some good stuff in the offiing, Becks.

Tis a cold day here - we have some sunshine and then downpours, so the dog walk was something of a trudge, to the accompaniment of the countryside sounds - heavy vehicles, gunshots.
I have started the great post-festivities clean-up. The Christmas decs will have to go either today or tomorrow - gathering dust and being in the way.
Naughty computer misbehaving again - a sharp tap and off and on for starters!
I have had a hankering for a tablet, ever since I ordered an HP Touchpad from Amazon in the famous Touchpad frenzy of 2011. Since they didn't send me one, I don't know if it'd have been wasted money. I'm not sure what I'd do with one anyway - although g/f seems to do all sorts on her blackberry, which is along the same lines ...ish. Strangely ( to my mind) hubby who was right in at the start for computers and for mobiles and all things techy, thinks that they're a bit pointless. This from someone who got a scientific calculator for about the same price as a small car - I've allowed myself a tad of hyperbole there. X)
Have a good holiday day all xxxx
Very cold here today but dry at least. The Christmas decs are down and away - with Lauren back at school tomorrow it seemed an appropiate day to do it.
I hate it when computer's misbehave - hope you get that sorted thej
Chesso - my fella is thinking about getting one in March (I have demanded a new oven before he does!) but I don't know enough about tablet's to have an opinion. I am after a Kindle but the oven must take priority!
I have a surveyor from the council coming again tomorrow morning, Last year we had a damp course put in but the damp is back.... oh fun!
Take it easy x
BBC News 24 had an obituary prog. on whilst I was dusting in the living room - one of my all time fav songs and it never ever fails to bring tears to my eyes.
Apparently the big city (where the train station is) lol... is completely traffic grid-locked. I was contemplating going to some actual shops - a lucky escape.
The damp not sorted Becks -that's not good.
Hola MB.:D
Did you go to Dubai? With the kids? How did that go? Or have I just made all that up?
We shall see what tomorrow brings
Nice to see some more friendly faces, Becks, M.B, DLM :)
Decs are all down and suitably stored for future festivities. Very quiet couple of days here and none of us made it to midnight on the 31st.
G.R and Baker St. An all time classic, so laid back, reminds me of a certain wine bar where we plotted to put the world to rights. Not sure what happened ? Fail I guess.
I have to agree with Mr C. apart from one area I have seen them being used for and that is "special needs." Considering some of the old "tablet computers" where costing literally thousands of pounds for very basic hardware and software the potential for these new breed tablets witht he right software is vast and in the main financially viable.
Wonderful for helping in communication.
For me , I'd rather have a 10" notebook thank you.
Hoping everyone is safe and sound in these awful weather conditions. Been wild down here during the latter part of the night but the news tells me Thej's area is the worst hit. Take care mate.
Later folks but in the meantime stay safe please.
Nice one, Albert!
I know Suze re the real shopping - a lucky escape.
All my decs are now back in the ancient boxes and the living room is dusted and hoovered - all traces removed. :D
If we were in Italy we would be anticipating a visit from La Befana - I guess that Italians in the USA have weeks and weeks of non-stop festivities from Thanksgiving on. Goodness knows how much lard I would gain in that scenario! I think that I must be ruminating along these lines as I have just had a massive amount of spag bol and crusty bread; far too much. I can hardly move.
The weather has, of course, been dreadful here as well. I hardly got any sleep last night with the sounds of tiles rising and falling, but luckily not falling off and the rain lashing against the windows.
There was a period of sun about mid-day so we rushed out for the short dog walk. We saw only a few fences down in the way of real damage. Nothng like as bad as your region, thej.
We have been having power cuts - a couple of hours this morning and on and off this afternoon - all those things that stop the power cuts damaging your computers and so on, all beep out their alarms, as the electric stops. It's like some sort of horror movie, being plunged into darkness at the same time.
We are going to give Endevour a whirl as well Suze. We loved Morse but I think it might be somewhat dated now. We watched all the Lewis again quite recently ( box set) and enjoyed them.
I better not get a tablet then - I might end up just playing games all day.
Will anyone be able to watch the Krankies again without thinking of the salacious details revealed a couple of weeks ago??
Putting the hard drive in the freezer ... who would have thought of that? So it was getting too hot?
Poor people having to go to work - sympathies from me..
We're here, kippy!!
Got caught in a hail storm after dropping the kiddo off at school (who was really not wanting me to leave. Thankfully she has an amazingly group leader and as I left they were chatting about what Santa had brought her!)
The council surveyor has been and gone. On the positive side it is just 2/3 rooms that we said had damp that will potentially need RE-doing and the 3rd just being down to condensation. I can cope with that as we will have one room plus kitchen/bathroom to live out of. Now it's a waiting game for the contractors to arrive and inspect and decide what they want to do. It will be such a nightmare having to redecorate yet again though - I wonder if I can get the council to cough up.... might be worth a email.
Thej - never thought of sticking one in the freezer - glad it appeared to work!!!
I started to watch "Escape from LA" which was on ITV4 (I think) last night. Not generally my kind of film but have got hooked - recorded it to watch the last hour tonight as it was on too late for me to finish it.
Chesso - do you know anyone with a tablet? Is it worth going and having a play with one?
Take care x
Becks, I think that should be the case ? I know of a couple of similar circumstances down here where the council has put things right".
Where is Kippy ?
Off to Google, I must have missed this ? (I may or may not return, depends on the content.)
At one point Janette had an affair with a circus leopard tamer while Ian carried on with the act’s glamorous assistant.
Dancers, magicians and musicians were among their conquests; and at the height of their fame in the 1970s and 1980s, they said, they adopted an ‘anywhere, anytime’ attitude to sex, listing golf courses and a cross-Channel outing in a 12ft boat among their al fresco encounters.
You couldn't make that up could you ?
Mentally scarred now, off to watch a Hammer film for a bit of reality.
Happy New Year!
better late than never.
suze - am loving the new avvy.
good to see everyone here, wonder if TrainDriver will pop in too ...
Computer is up and running again, after a fashion anyway, just making sure anything important is backed up.I was sure the hard drive was a gonner as nothing seemed to work until i stuck it in the freezer for a few hours, maybe just coincedence, who knows.I think i might invest in a new one to be on the safe side.:D
switcharoo

Seems to have settled down a little outside, well at least here in the outback !
January is such a depressing month isn't it, I am struggling to find one real bit of good news although the following must contend for "Quote of the Day" ? (Made me chuckle anyway)
Source for those wanting to be Spiderman at the next office party.
Take care of yourselves please.

You finally made it kippy ...hurrah!
Another sleepless night - 'the noise, the noise'; the winds seem to have dropped substantially just now. Hubby has gone to the supermarket as we decided to leave the dog walk and see if it got a bit better. The rain is still lashing down though.
Battery spiders ...hmmm Proclivity is an excellent word. Seriously, I'm not sure that I am happy with transgenic stuff; I prefer my silk worms without spider genes.
Krankies - sorry! X)
Noted re Endevour, Suze - we'll stick with it.
Re the tablet, Becks - it'd just be to play with!
It took me a minute to figure out exactly what you had been up to with the Wheelie bin, Suze - mouth to mouth occurred !! lol
Our stack of rubbish was an embarrassment - over 2 weeks ( due to no holiday collections) worth of stuff piled up in the black bags.
Stay safe, keep warm. xxxx
