Heyo, wow I post alot about food here lol!

A good few years ago, when I was in comp school, they made chocolate cornflake crisp things for lunch.

Now, I have made these successfully once. I know you need syrup, butter, cornflakes, milk powder and chocolate drink powder. They sound awful, but when you mix them right, they are AMAZING.

Does anyone have the actual recipe for these?

Try washing them down with a large mug of cadburys drinking chocolate. Choc-tastic mate.

ok, all the suggestions are great, but not a touch on the actual real thing.

Ok, this is what I have so far, I have never got the right recipe. But this is what I got.

Mix an amount of syrup and butter into a saucepan, and bring to simmer.

Get a large bowl, and put an amount of powdered milk, and powdered choco drink (cheap stuff from tesco wil do) - Then add loads of cornflakes. Then, you need to use a electric mixer to mix all this powder, coating all the flakes.

Then once you have done this, add the syrup mix. Then mix again, put in fridge to cool.

This is the most tasty choco thing ever, i guarantee. I just need the measurements!!

NO the most choco thing ever is to drink hot chocolate through "straws" made by eating either end of a chocolate finger and sucking until you feel the heat of your drinking choc, before puting in mouth and just feeling it melt and coat everything in your mouth. Yum!!1

dont knock this until you try it lol. . . . .

These are not at all sickly, you can eat them all day.

8oz chocolate
3 tbl sp golden syrup
2oz marg
4oz cornflakes.heat them all up(except corn .flakes) gently!
then mix into c.f. and leave to set in fridge for 2 hours.(after putting them in fairy cake cases)

Real recipe below

Ingredients
[LIST]
[*]400g chocolate. Lots of recipes will tell you to buy specialist chocolate with a high proportion of cocoa solids but you can use a big bar of Cadbury's or Galaxy or whatever chocolate you usually eat.
[*]80g butter. That's about a third of a packet, if you use the usual 250g/half-pound packets.
[*]A good-sized dollop of golden syrup - about two generous tablespoons
[*]Exactly the right amount of FRESH cornflakes. (you'll know how much you need, about a mugful or so)[/LIST]Method
[LIST=1]
[*]Boil a small amount of water in a pan. Keep it gently simmering, put a bowl over the water and break the chocolate into it. Wait until it's melted, stirring gently if necessary.
[*]Chop the butter into thin slices and add them to the chocolate. Stir until melted.
[*]Pour in the golden syrup about two generous tablespoons
[*]Now you have a bowl of thick liquid chocolate/butter/syrup mixture. Take it off the heat. Now you need to add just the right amount of cornflakes to make a thick mixture that will set into individual cakes. There really no substitute for doing this by feel: adding some, stirring and considering. Start with about a mugful.
[*]Scoop the mixture out into about 24 separate lumps on kitchen parchment or individual little cake cases
[*]Leave them to cool - perhaps for five minutes or so in fridge
[*]Don't leave them in the fridge or they get covered in condensation when you take them out.
[*]Wait until chocolate mixture has completely set before you scoff them[/LIST]For a more adult version use bitter 70% chocolate and add 50g of raisins that have been soaked in dark rum for a couple of hours at stage 4.

OMG... i used to love these. At my school they didn't have chocolate in them.

I've copied the receipe and will try with & without chocolate. .... diet starts next week!

The one used in all schools does not involve real chocolate. Its done with powdered milk and drinking chocolate. !

My recipe is the best, just need to find out the quantities! AAAAAHHHHHHHH

But powdered milk and cocoa added to butter (or marg) is basically cheap chocolate! Use Scotbloc cooking chocolate if that is the taste you're trying to capture.

nonono! Im not after the chocolate taste, these dont taste like full on chocolate, its a taste that cant be described.

C, the recipe, if you add the drinking choc and milk powder to the liquid, it ruins the taste, and they taste completely different.

You need to mix the powdered ingredients to the flakes, then add the mix. This makes a hell of a difference. They are light tasting, not sickly at all, and just AMAZING. Come on, someone must know this recipe!

I've bought a tin of syrup today, went on their website tate & lyle but even that doesn't have the recipe.

May have to contact my old school for it!

10g drinking choc.
10g cocoa powder.
115g dried milk powder.
75ml warm water.
cornflakes to mix in
Cream the sugar & marg until smooth. Add the cocoa & drinking chocto the mix & cream in. Then add the milk & water a little at a time to the mix. Using an electric whisk blend for about 4mins, until all milk powder has dissolved. Add cornflakes and fold in. Put into individual paper cases or a large tin and leave to set :)




Not as scrummy as butterscotch tart though! :)

I emailed my old school and they haven't replied, so have done another search. Somebody posted this on another website:-

....... this is the recipe we used when we were kids, making a gloopy syrup and its really easy to remember just 400g of everything to make about 24 crispy cakes.

measure 400g margarine/butter , 400g drinking choc (sifted) and 400g golden syrup into a saucepan. Melt on the hob (takes about 2min) stirring all the time.
Measure 400g corn flakes or rice crispies, then when all the other ingredients are melted together forming a thick dark brown gloop stir it into the crispies. We serve ours in bun cases straight out of the fridge.

Hi,

Made the cakes and they were lovely but not what I had at school. These were really chocolatey. Gonna definately make them again as they have gone down really well but shall use only a quarter of the chocolate powder.
