Camera Lens Help....

I currently own a Canon 450D, with no intention of upgrade it in the near furture.

When I purchased it, it came with 2 lenses.
Canon EF-S 18-55mm and a Tamron 70-300.

I want to get rid of both these lenses and replace it with one.

The choice is....

Canon EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS
Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC

Which should I go for? Any recommendations?

You will get various answers I am sure. I have had both lenses you mention and the Tamron was best as its lighter and has far greater reach, I still use it today and sold the Canon

excellant - nice to heard from someone who has had both!

how did the auto focus compare??

The Tammy is a bit slower. But I travel a lot and the Tamron is so much easier to walk and travel with.

Build quality is slightly less than Canon too. But worked best for me :-)
Go tamron, far bigger reach 270x1.6 for focal length. Mine are all Canon but on this occasion i agree with ukpbz, especially if you have no intention of buying other lenses
I'm from the dark side (Nikon), but if I had the choice the 270mm would be top of the list...
thank you all!
