Cameron gives £950 million to Pakistan

danmc Avatar

Prime Minister David Cameron has said the bond between the UK and Pakistan was "unbreakable" as he announced £950m worth of aid for education.

The money, to be spent over the next four years, will be used to build or refurbish more than 8,000 schools, train 90,000 teachers and get an extra four million children to school.

Some 17 million children in Pakistan do not attend school and half the population - which is forecast to double the current 173 million by 2050 - is illiterate.

Personally I think this is great, what do you think?

when you speak about this country, do you not say "my country"
maybe "our country" would be better but what ever

This. If it was to be given , they should send people out there and make sure this sort of stuff happens. Its like giving away free money lol.

That will buy an awful lot of one way tickets to England.

I have said it before and I will say it again - I find it offensive that we give money to ANY country that has a nuclear weapons program.

We even gave money to China & India last year - two of the fastest developing countries in the world.

I dont get this country at all anymore, wtf is he doing. Were up the swanny yet we can give £950 million away. Were cutting the defence budgets and yet hes giving a country a shed load of cash where apparently 50% of the threats against us come from.

WTF!

Yes they have been replaced with diversity classes.

Seriously though come on how can we be held responsible for the actions of the upper classess 100 year's ago. Remember the lower classes of whom the majority of us are descended from were just as and downtrodden as they were.

Cameron talks of this strong bond between Pakistan and the UK, I don't know if you have ever been to Bolton but trust me if ever there was a chance to see this illusive bond he talks about there's ample opportunity for it to show itself here and not I nor anyone I know has ever seen it.

And I'm not having it that it's a racist problem on the side of the English, I've lived in Bolton my entire life and have many Indian friends even though there is a much smaller Indian community than Pakistani. The pakistani's just aren't interested in mixing if anything its the entire opposite all I have ever seen from them is misstrust and contempt.

Maybe that's just in the area you live in. On my train journey i see problem with english people too not even sitting in the same carriage with an asian person. However once I reach a part of london that all changes. All ethnicities sit together its just the first few certain areas which people are from dont like to mix.

I'm only needing to go as far back as the previous world wars, not 100's of years ago.

Strange how u say that? I'm of a Pakistani background and majority of my friends are White! I take it they share the same view as you? I think not.

Don't you know about the Global elite, and how these things have to happen to keep the sheep in their place, ovine and ever acquiescent.

Protest if you don't like it, oh... I forgot, the people of this country don't know how to any more ....
#20
It makes you laugh, your own country is falling apart financially and litterally but other countries come first. I have every single penny accounted for and struggle every month because of bint's like him giving away money as and when he likes it to the country of his choice.
All this is happenening because people wanted to vote in a new prime minister, bet Gordon Brown doesn't look so bad now!
#21
How does that 'Baroness' Warsi get to wear a baroness badge? It would appear she has never had the popular vote of the public, never actually elected, she is or was a minister without portfolio, has done little for the general public or public service, yet is rewarded with a life peerage... simply all the moves in the closed corridors and secret handshakes...

Does the average Pakistani, Chinese or Indian feel any gratitude to the UK? Unlikely. What does the average UK taxpayer get from supporting these countries. Nothing I'd guess. Better to provide aid and support spontaniously when countries have natural disasters etc. Just to clear up any misunderstanding, I'm all for supporting others including foreign countries, but in the right way...and there are plenty of UK nationals taking handouts without any conscience or gratitude too.

How much would it cost to just wipe the entire country from existence?

If it less than £950m then surely that would make better economic sense as the country serves no purpose than to harbour terrorists

I don't have anything against Pakistan per se, but it was only yesterday Clegg wanted a review into why there is a class divide. I wonder how much this "review" will cost uk taxpayers?

It is the little things that divide this country, mr cleggface.

2 doors down are 2 kids whose parents dont work and havent worked for (as long as ive known them - 4 yrs+), now they go to school and get free lunches which works out to £21 a week or £900+ a year if I had to pay for mine to have them. Mine make do with sandwiches and snacks which to be honest isn't great (but at least they get something to eat right!?)
Labour started a trial of free school meals for a few schools (rich, poor or hard working families) here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8234622.stm
In the same article it says free school meals for every child would total 1bn.

how is it selfish? people in this country (England) are struggling, maybe not so much yours seeing as all your charges for various things are being abolished.

Where did he say 100's of years? and the 1st world war was the best part of 100 years ago so he is closer than you, but then again that is the norm isn't it, twisting things to support your argument.

Do we know how the world works? What is this money REALLY going to be used for does anyone actually know? We can all guess, how about this one, We've just given them 950m in return (there is always a return/catch isn't there!) we will get very cheap guns/tanks/ammunition for use against more uk world policing.
#39
Theres always going to be an agenda, 950m to pakistan isnt a freebee but a deal. The only thing is like most people wanting deals they will always look to get it as a freebee, so it could backfire and be used "wrongly"
So there maybe training and schools but not as we intended

The government have civil servant auditors that travel to the countries we give aid to, to check what was done with the money.
