Can I use a MTB saddle for my road bike?

Cannot bare my stock road bike saddle anymore, done hundreds of miles on it trying to break it in and it still hurts.

I have a spare very comfortable downhill MTB saddle that I have always found good,

Is this ok to use on my road bike?

if a plank of wood was comfortable you could screw it to the bike frame and use that ... better still take the saddle off and insert the pole up your a*** :p

How comfortable is it uphill? (that may sound like a 'carry on cycling' line)

I typed in granny saddle in google...and got some er interesting photos. But yeah the bigger the better, no need to cycle in pain.
