simples , the Firewire 800 is the new standard , Firewire 400 is the old one . I think the new 800 is a 9 pin device and the old is 400 [6 pin], hence the 800 to 400 adapters and cables you can buy .

Firewire Cable

OP could be something to do with your username? similar no? you recently been searing for macbooks or something that could have triggered the macbook search result too?
