My daughter has no telephone connection..cable isnt in her area and she wont give BT the £120 or whatever to connect a landline, and they wont budge!
As she is due to have another baby soon she would like to food shop online and keep intouch with msn and emails.
I have seen advertised £9.99 a month 3 mobile broadband.
I have a T-mobile contract that I get internet on the phone with (monthly fee) Could she use either of these with her computer? and what would the speed be? Would she need any accessories or just leads? I know im stupid its why im asking you guys as i know a lot of you are very savvy!! Thanks in advance!!

There is a review of these devices in one of this month's PC mags; it's either PC Pro or PC Plus I think. All of the major brands are covered.

Basically, you'd take out a contract with 3, Vodafone or whomever (as you would a for a phone) and will then have to buy a USB modem that plugs into the computer, which along with some software (provided with the modem) will manage the connection. The modems are pretty small nowadays and look just like pen / thumb drives (aka memory sticks) and don't cost too much. As for speeds: You'd be best buying the mags for good info on them and network coverage.

I took out the mobile internet with 3 mobile & its great. I got it half price cos my mobile phone is a 3,

Good customer service & no probs with the device.

The little modem thingy was also free & I got £37.50 back off quidco!

Very easy to install ( plug n play) & very easy to use.

Worth a go.

Well im on contract for my phone so not sure if its applicable for payg. try giving em a ring to find out. the website isnt the most informative i know.

If you need a phone then they do have some good deal with free phones from time to time

The internet thing itself is an 18mth contract. You also get free music & video downloads which might be of interest to your daughter - the amount depends on which package you go for.

Now Broadband

I used to have it, but the coverage in my area was poor, so I was forced into getting a landline.

Buy the USB modem from 3 at play.com for £39.99. Go through quidco for a few quid back too.

No 12/18 month contract. top up as and when.

30 days mobile broadband from between £10 and £25 depending on download limits you go for.

1Gb limit - £10

3Gb limit - £15

7Gb limit - £25

I topped up first time to use the £15 option but came nowhere near using the 3Gb limit so now I opt for 1Gb option. I use this to surf on laptop on coach to work (not everyday) and as yet haven't reached my limit.

If you decide after a month or two you don't like it then there's no long contract and you can sell it on.
