we are staying in a hotel in mill hill and have to get to blackheath common on public transport

my question is

Mill Hill is in North London in Zone 4 and Blackheath is in South East London in Zone 2. Would it be possible to change your accommodation to somewhere south of the river?
Off the top off my head (ie. I haven't checked), you would have to get the tube from Mill Hill to London Bridge - say approx. 1/2 hour - then catch a train from London Bridge to Blackheath. say approx. 20 mins. Allowing for getting to and from stations and waiting times you would need to allow at least an hour and a half.
Cost for this would be the cost of a 4-zone travelcard. See here.

thanks for that, we did consider closer accommodation but got a really good price which outweighs the distance. plus we need to take our dog and not many places let you

Cab will charge you between 20£ to 25£

I think 4 - 7 depends which cab you have taken.

AA route planner shows distance of 18.5 miles. Cabs in st albans (just north of london) charge £2.10 a mile so i'm sure london charge more, so i guess you'll be looking at £40
