i have checked locally on ebay but nothing here local to conwy

I was wondering if anyone might have a working adjustable bed they which they no longer need. It is for a young woman who is suffering from terminal cancer and is finding laying flat increasingly painful. I have to admit this woman is me. My husband will travel anywhere. Thank you for reading, I have my fingers crossed.
Peaceful xx

Be wary about ads like that. If she is terminal then the social services/cancer services will provide a bed for her.

Ive seen these ad's before.

On freecycle and gumtree.

Scam

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ totally agree

got to agree with jaybizzle ed

she should get 1 through her cancer unit + or contact mcmillan nurses -

so many places out there you can go for help - you have to look

yup when my mother was ill (glan clwyd hosp!?!) they gave her an adjustable bed and chair which were delivered and then picked up when she passed on
#11
yep total scam and so shocking that ppl do this, as my father passed away at 41 and he was given one of those beds to make him more comfortable i his last days and to think how much we and him appreciated that and yet ppl try to make a scam out of this.
#12
I think its lovely of you to care, but I cant see it being genuine, as already said things like this can and will be given to sick patients to make them more comftable. I would certainly ask more questions but I suppose you never know, maybe they are just unfortunate and have not been offered anything.
#13
these beds cost thousands and thats probably why they are scamming, as said before when ppl are genuinely ill they are given this type of bed/help when needed and then returned as they are so expensive so yes it is nice to care but unfortunatley there are vultures out there waiting to prey on this.
#14
do they get these things quickly though?
im sure when my friends little girl had terminal cancer it took a while for her to get a special chair, and i know for a fact she didnt have a bed because she slept with her mum or in a cot but maybe that was through my friends choice,im sure a bed was mentioned but it couldnt be upstairs and would of gone in the front room

i did send the lady a link to a bed on ebay which was on the wirral and i recieved and email back

Thank you for your kind email. I've received some lovely emails and I will certainly keep an eye on the ebay link you sent. Many thanks again

maybe i just dont like to think that there would be people willing to lie about having cancer
#15
Maybe i'm gullable but i believe it could be true, why would they bother emailing back?
#16
there are lots of ppl willing to lie unfortunately, ppl do get this stuff from different places when they are terminally ill but i would be totally aware of scams as there are lots of them most do involve cancer or children.

it was in this one when you quoted with mine thats why i took it that way, but apologies if i was wrong and have misinterpretted it.

i think the proper hospital beds do cost alot of money
but i have seen these normal adjustable beds go cheap or even not sell on ebay in the past

i personally dont think the lady is lying, maybe there are reasons why she hasnt been provided with a bed or maybe she wants one sooner rather than later

i myself have put an appeal on freecycle in the past when i wanted to decorate my friends house for her especially her little girls bedroom, whilst they were in hospital,we were not offered any help so me and my sis did it all(she had let the house go since finding out about her daughters cancer)

unfortunatly she didnt get to come home

maybe thats why we had no offers of help as people might of thought it a scam,it never occured to me until this thread
#25
It probly is a scam, but if its isnt we should all feel bad saying it is,

you will just never no.

1 more thing, a terminally ill woman with cancer, who cant lie flat, but can sit at a computer typing ad's ? :whistling:
#26
where we live its quite a small community and alot of the freecycle people know each other and im sure this lady is not afirst time poster

only takes a min to write an ad,im sure it would be painful laying flat in bed for approx 8hrs especially if she has poor mobility

maybe im wrong and she is a liar,we have no way of knowing
#27
well i have emailed the lady back suggesting the macmillan nurses for help funding a bed so will see if i get a reply, feel awful for doing it,it was a nice email i sent to her so hope she doesnt think im accusing her of being a fraudster
#28
have you heard anything back yet?

Or why not add it to your list of irrational worries
