Im having a complete mare here. I ordered a 60GB PS3 off Studio (as they were the only place I could find them in stock at the time, even though they're over priced) on 27th Dec. This was done by talking to a person rather than using online ordering. At the same time, I also gave my ex-partners card details (Solo card) as he owed me the money that was paying for it, and told them to take the full £449.99

3 days later, the money still hadn't come out of his bank so I called them to see what was happening and they had no record of my order and no record of anyone taking his card details. They said there was no pending order and nothing due to be taken off any card. Had a bit of a rant at them, ordered the PS3 again and said I would call back in a couple of days to give a bit longer for anything else to come off his card and to see if the PS3 actually got ordered this time.

As at 4th Jan, still nothing had come out of his bank, so he paid the money into my account and I called up, they re-confirmed they had no other pending payments due to go through and any payments they take would be taken out of the bank within a day. So, as they confirmed the PS3 had been ordered but there was no payment, I gave them my card details (Visa debit). checked my account and the money was taken by the next day. Ex partner went to withdraw money today and his card was refused. Just looked at my Studio account online and it's £900 in credit, so they've taken the money from his bank after all, 9 days after taking the details and after 4 different people confirmed to me they had no record and assured me nothing was going through.

Spoke to their supervisor, as they refused to put me through to a manager as it's 48hrs for a call back, but they didn't seem that bothered that they've taken my ex-partner over his overdraft limit and left him unable to fill the car up tomorrow to get to work and all he said they could do was put in a request for a refund, which could take up to 48hrs to be actioned and the actual refund itself could be anything up to 14 days !!! I've already told them that I'm going to be after some heafty compensation fon his behalf for the complete mess this has been but I'm not in a position to lend him £450 if this does take 2 weeks, so I was wondering whether you can do the equivalent of a chargeback from a Solo card, if he tells his bank that the money was taken without authorisation and if it's any quicker than waiting for a refund, if they manage to get that right.

I wouldn't touch Studio with a barge pole now. Completely useless staff and company, in my opinion of course !

How many PS3's have you received? What was their initial delivery time, 3 days? Sounds to me like the orders placed during the xmas period were stuck in the system and their ordering system is not 'live' . The problem now is that they are not refusing the refund the money, so I don't think the bank will do a chargeback... Unfortunately you will more than likely have to wait. They should should have informed you though with your inital order that there would be a delay in processing your payments until the new year.... :lazy:

I've not recieved any PS3's yet and have only just had confirnation that they've ordered one from when I re-ordered on 2nd Jan. I was told initially on 27th Dec that delivery time for PS3's is up to 14 days, but the money would be taken straight away. They still have no details of the order made on the phone on 27th Dec.

I did have a horrible feeling that the bank will refuse to do anything as technically they havent said they'd not do a refund, it's just whether they actually bother to do it and how long it takes. Merry Christmas to them too :x

another reason why I wouldn't touch Studio with a barge pole, good luck & I hope you get your money back asap, these people are like dick turpin without a mask

Unfortunatly you can not charge back with a debit card like a credit card. The transaction can be disputed at his bank as a duplicate transaction and he may get the money back there and then - no guarantee thought.
Wish you all the best!

chargebacks take time and many (28+ Days).

Would sugest you speak to someone senior at the company, if the card they are refunding to is a Solo card then once they have processed the refund then depening on your bank the money should be avalible straight away.

Note a Visa debit would take 3 working days but this could work straight away.
Worse case should be they refund money on Monday and its avaliable Friday, dont think you will get compensation better off trying for a discount

I did ask to speak to a manager whilst I was trying to sort this out, but they refused to put me through, saying the manager had to oversee a lot of call centre people so the only thing they do is call backs which take 48 hours. The trouble with this company is they can't be bothered to do anything and anything they do end up doing seems to be under sufferance and they don't bother doing it correctly or at any speed. I know once the refund has been done then it shouldn't be too long, but it's getting them to do any work in the first place without hearing 'it's 48 hours for a manager to call you back and it's 48 hours for them to look at the refund request,' which they'll look at and refund anything up to 14 days later after they've finished scratching their behinds and picking fleas off each other, as all monkeys do !!

Thanks for the advice about trying for a discount instead of compensation, I'll bear that one in mind if I ever get my call back from the manager that's sat there watching everyone being busy  I've already spent over an hour on the phone to them in total and all I was trying to do was order and pay for a PS3. I knew it was too good to be true when I found the 60GB in stock - that'll teach me :-D

Thanks. I've told him to ask about that if they refuse the charge back or say the charge back will take too long. Fingers crossed they can do something though
