Can anyone recommend some non-powered speakers ?

Just got a new allotment, and plan to spend some time there.

Theres no mains power, but would like some music while I work. I have an old ipod that I dont mind taking down there and using.

Anyone recommend some cheap but reasonable speakers, preferrably unpowered but maybe battery based, that I could use ?

Please - no post from audio fanboys - I know the limitations on non-powered speakers !

if you can charge them via usb first i recommend getting one of these :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=mini-x+speaker&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=4577446790&ref=pd_sl_sr4ljsw4s_e

affordable and great sound.

hope that helps

Hi I have just bought a small bluetooth speaker from play .com called Linx Bi-Tube.It has a built in battery that you charge.Supposed to last for 8 hours. The sound is not bad probably okay for what you need. Only £13.99 delivered. It received very good reviews.

built in battery, charges from usb, last all day no problem ( i have one, love it, tried lots of little speakers in the past)

not bluetooth, just the usual headphone socket type
recharge with pc usb socket

Why not use earphones.
Not everyone is going to want to listen to your music. :x

I'd get battery ones or outside you really have no chance of hearing it.

I'll second this one. Got one a month ago, from amazon and have been very impressed with the sound and quality.

Have to agree with this. Allotments are a very close community, and therefore you need to be more careful about how your behaviour impacts on others. Your neighbors may be going there partly to get away from noise.
I just put on my mp3 under everything and as far as anyone else is concerned they are working in peace and quiet. If you don't want to carry you mp3 around then you should think about some wireless headphones.

Thanks to everyone for thier feedback.

I had considered the impact on others, but am not looking to put in place a ghetto balster - just some quiet background music.

What if someone else has the same idea?
