Can clothing be taken back to store, 'sales of goods act'

Hi, son has bought some really chavy clothes which i need to take back to the store, they are also quite poor quality which i know will not last long.
I've looked at the receipt and it says that refunds will only be offered if goods do not comply with the sales of goods act, what does this mean? Do i get a refund?

some shops will only offer an exchange or credit note if you have just changed your mind and there isnt a fault !.........i know this is the case with sports direct .

the store is only obliged to accept a return for refund if they are faulty

they may offer a credit note, but as your son had the opportunity to view them before purchase they are not obliged to offer any form of refund or exchange just because they are unwanted

post 1 is nonsense

what store was it?

This and how old is your son?

Would have to agree with Boothy, are you sure they are not damaged ;)

If he chose the clothes why are you not letting him keep them, surely its what he wants to wear.

sorry post 1 is correct, i have returned things numerous of times,( get home & change mind) if they are returned in an unused condition(new) & you have your reciept they will either refund or give a credit note just as post 1 says :)

^^^ we don't know where they are from just a guess.
#13
why buy things and then change your mind and expect the store to give you a refund! total waste of time!

I think what post 1 is saying is that many shops choose to offer a credit note or exchange out of goodwill, although this is NOT an entitlement under sale of goods act if u have just changed your mind
#15
I know several shops that have signs by the tills now saying no refund for returned items.

Have a closer look. The person who said the clothes were from Primark is NOT the OP.
