Can I ask...

Why do people ask certain things as if someone else will do the donkey work ? If you are online posting you are half way near to an answer just type in what you want... But if you state what you have personally done yourself to try seek out a bargain, you'll maybe get a bit of respect and a sensible reply ... Just wondered .. Not referring to all questions... Ya know? (Ps: google wouldn't tell me the answer to this! )

sometimes you need to ask for others peoples views you could do a google search however someone on here might be able to give you personal advice a) cause they have already come across it or b) some people do like to research things for others on here. Me being one if i can help I will i dont mind googling etc if I have time.

I just read a one sentence ask and I appreciate someone can possibly have the knowledge and may stumble across and answer but it just seemed to me like they couldn't be bothered to do any leg work.. I don't mind googling or thinking alternatives if they were to say they tried 'here', 'here' and there'.

Mostly, and it's my opinion only, they are too lazy or too "over thinking" (that's my polite word for someone not using common sense) the question.

Generally agree that some people are plain lazy. I do help quite a bit and have done with hotels and holidays (my forte) but the amount of the lazy holiday requests we get is a joke. Now if someone says I have found this and is anyone able to find something similar cheaper or an alternative then fine but to just ask find me a holiday on such a date is just plain lazy.

Why do people post such questions (I.e. question posed in the OP) in Ask instead of Misc, or even feedback? :{

A perfect answer, applies to the questions i ask, i would trust the opinion of someone else rather than yahoo.

Thanks tbh I like to answer especially when people say I need to get a new washing machine what shall i go for, people can give honest opinions on what they have and what they like.. and if they have found a good bargain

I'm asking about people asking. Then you ask me why I am asking here on ask. I don't know I ask myself. Now the word ask looks odd... :-/

The whole "what's the best ps4/xbox 1 deals atm?"topics are stupid. Use the search feature on deals and find out there.

Also there is a ton of questions people ask which are basic google questions, discount codes, of site A is trusted etc.

Some genuine questions are asked here which brings up a good topic, but there is a ton of lazy questions where others are doing the leg work.

this is one of the great unanswered questions of the internet. see dave gorman's modern life is goodish.
some questions benefit from personal experience, some people don't know how to navigate the internet competently enough to find out the answer but others can be easily answered with a simple google search and it is those questions that really get my goat.
When i come across those questions, I just bite my tongue, scream GIYF in my head and walk away, knowing mr darwin has something special planned for them soon

Darwin presented a theory, he did not make the rules. It is also unlikely that a person will be less likely to survive because they are less able to use the internet than others. Perhaps Darwin has plans for people who suggest something so ridiculous?

I know it's hard to believe, like seriously hard to believe, but some people genuinely don't have the knowledge to research things online in such a way as to find the cheapest xbox console, or whatever it is they are wanting.

Also, some people enjoy helping. If you don't, then don't answer - ya' whiney twit.

With regards to holiday requests - I think people are just following suit. They see it done, so they do it themselves. Again, no one is forcing you to respond.
#22
It does vary - some people are completely lazy, others will try to look first and then ask on here.

But sometimes it can be a question where it's not quite straight-forward to search for but someone might have a good answer
off the top of their head or at least point them in the right direction.
