Can I connect my sky plus box to my normal digital aerial?

Hi all, I have recently cancelled my sky subscription and have advertised my sky plus box in work.

Someone is interested, wants to use it as a freeview box. He is aware it has no pause/rewind facilities. He already has sky in his living room.

My question is, how would he get freeview on this box? Can it simply be plugged into you normal aerial socket in the wall and it will pick up freeview, or does it need to be plugged into the sky satellite.

In the latter case can this additional box be connected to the satellite while another subcription paying box is connected?

Any usefull advise will get rep! Thanks.

its a sky box NOT a freeview box
they'd not get any of the freeview channels

2) if you mean can you have this along with another sky box, yes provided the lnb (bit on the dish) has enough cables to work both
1 cable for each box, unless either or both are sky+ or HD boxes in which case both ideally need 2 cables each, although the HD box "can" work with just one

Oh and then on a side, I also have my sky wireless router from my broadband subscription. Can this be re-used? Would I be able to sell this and someone could use it with a different broadband subscription?

You should be able to flash the router and return the firmware to that of the manufacturer's rather than Sky's - that way, you'll be able to use it waith any ISP.

If its one of the newer ones they are locked and haven't been cracked.

You can use a SKY+ box without a subscription but you do need a "FreeSat from Sky viewing card".

See http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/faqs-freesat.aspx#q3 (the answer to the question "I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?"

You will also need a cable from the Sky+ box to a spare connection (if there is one) on the LNB.

Not totally true, it will work without a card, just a few channels missing, like Sky3, and a few more.
