Can I return a video game to Tesco after opening it?

I purchased Animal Corssing and the Wii Speak bundle at Tesco earlier, and I'm not very impressed with it. Am I able to return it to the store and recive my money back or will I have to sell it on here or eBay and make a tiny loss?

Unlikely if the plastic cellophane cover has been opened as it won't be in what they consider a resellable condition.

My Tescos refund experience of today:
I had a packet of walkers crisps which when I opened it was soggy and horrible so decided to take them back to Tescos as I had bought them about 1 minute earlier and I was still in the carpark. The customer services lady looked at me, took out a crisp from the packet and snapped it in half remarking 'they seem crunchy enough to me'. The customer services woman made a remark to her collegue who then looked, laughed, said she was starving and proceeded to take out a crisp and ate it!...she then said 'yuck, these are soggy and have a funny taste'. Well, I had warned her. They made such a palava over this soggy packet of crisps that there was a queue, I felt like a right idiot and embarassed. They did replace it in the end - not that I was bothered by that point - so taking back an opened video game you will probably have a problem getting a refund.

after sickly sweets experience, I think you should attempt the refund just for the jokes! :-D

Unfortunately many stores are ageist (unofficially), meaning if you want something done such as returning (if there is a problem such as unsealed) get someone around middle age, not 19 or below (young punk trying to scam apparently) or an older person of 85+ (they are too old to understand the electronic product apparently).
Try it but it isn't a guarantee.

Gamestation sell open boxed games. If you can find a gamestartion receipt for the same game, you could take it their and pretend you purchased it from them. Could say you got it for your brother for his bday and it turns out that he already has it.

No offence, but it's not their fault you aren't impressed with the video game and they will advocate this against the refund idea - as there isn't anything wrong with what they sold you which should entitle you to a refund. They sold you a new good and you have used it and it's not fault on their part that you don't like it. (I'm not having a go, just stating how they will say it to you).

If it didn't come in cellophane you'd be ok; if not try gamestation as was suggested or ebay or something... or a friend even! Stalk the wiis in the area :P

They did something like that to my 60 year old mum, over another product. She said they made her feel like a right idiot, it wasn't till I came over to back her up that they gave her the money back. All this while a queue formed. She wished she had not bothed.

unfortunately as it has been opened and it is not broken or faulty and it is down to your preferance that you no longer want it then it will not be refunded or exchanged i,m afraid ( i work there so talking through experience for my store only) hth.

They did it for me once. The game was given to me un sealed. Just stick to your guns and be asertive.

Think my excuse was there were fingerprints on the disc and it was a present. Put them on the back burner and say why sell goods that look second hand. That you will go else where and buy a sealed one but refuse to spend at tesco.

i bought an acer laptop and had it for 2 weeks and decided i didnt like it as it was 15" screen and i was use to a smaller screen so i took it back and was able to swap it for the 12.1screen acer, no problems what so ever, as you have 21days to return anything they asked me why i was returning and just said it wasnt for me, so if they will take a laptop back after 2weeks im sure they will take back a game after a couple of days!!!

You're more then welcome to quote that I've already stated that if there's any money to be involved it's going into my pocket.

Is that a euphemism for a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush?

It's better to have a small actual advantage than the chance of a greater one? (googled it)

Nah the adrenaline from the chance is a gift in it's self... Soon i'm gonna go out to seek ladie friends (two birds would be ideal) just to get rejected... make a game out of it... and from it i'll learn the hard way... and look like a cock at the same time... well not a cock, i'm a good looking chap (although I wouldn't need to state it if it was true, i've got a low self esteem... etc) bless me.

I'm bored.... someone dance for me.
