Hi there
I recently got the orange upgrade for this phone - but i was hoping to give it to my partner - but they are on 02.

I looked it up online and people are saying how they cant get it unlocked on market stalls - something about the firmware?

Has anybody successfully unlocked this phone and can you tell me how to go about this?

Any help greatly appreciated as im pretty much stuck without this unlocked!!!!

:)

It can be done but its far from an easy one,

Needs to be left into a phone shop and will probably take them a few days to do,so bit on the costly side :(

I'd guess at about £30,but to be honest you'd be better maybe leaving it for a few weeks, phone is too new and complicated and there is a chance even a professional unlocker could break it and I don't think there is a solution available yet to re-fix it,

In a few weeks time they'll know better what they're doing,

Think your best option would be to use one of the unlock chips from the like of deal extreme for the moment until a less risk free unlock solution becomes available

can you tell me more about the unlock chip - how does that work and how much does it cost? is it risky?

Its just a little bit of plastic that fits under the simcard to bypass the locks,no risk with that at all, once its in place just keep it there until your ready to get the phone unlocked properly,it would enable you to get using the phone on a different network for the moment, link below..

Ey up,

I bought a 6700 on t mobile, not realising how hard they were to unlock and once i got it, i took it to various mobile phone shops/stalls. They quoted me 30-50 squid and said it would take a week.

So i then decided to contact t mobile direct to see if they could help. They said i needed to be a tmobile customer (which i am not). For tmobile contract customers, it cost £15, and pay as u go i didnt ask about but u have to have had the sim card for at least 3 months.

So i remembered my brother in law was on tmobile and asked him to ring for me, he did and gave the imei number to the tmob c/s. They said it would take 10-28 days and charge my bro in law £15 on his next bill.

Hope this helps somebody.

The sim holder on this phone is really tight though, tried 1 a while ago with a i-smart and give up trying to get it fitted in. It might be incompatible with 6700 anyhow as doesn't work with some phones so don't be raising your hopes too much
