Wifi is not provided by O2. Basically if you have wireless internet at home, your phone can connect to it - it's just using your home connection...

My understanding is very loose on this stuff, but I think I read that you can only use an iphone tarrif sim in an iphone. I'l be corrected if I'm wrong, I'm sure!

Wifi is generally free. The iphone sim allows access FOC at O2 hotspots. depends whether you want the wifi for home browsing. (which the phone will do anyway) or for out and about (which the data will do anyway)

Nah they'll remove it when they realise. Anyway I got the normal smartphone that said data only but my bill says data and wifi. Honestly though how often will you use the wifi, I've yet to use it. It's only to use their stupid hot spots, your own wifi will work fine anyway.

If I'm using it for browsing, probably as much as 80%, its connected to BT openzone or the cloud. (I work right next to a hot spot!) Id certainly miss it if it wasnt there! Deffo much faster than 3G.

i'm on live chat with o2 at the mo & they are saying i have to take a new 12 month contract from the day before my next bill is due. this won't affect me getting my quidco which has been validated will it? :?

If you had a 30 day probably not, if it's a 12 month then yes. Still might not get it on a 30 day though.

i'm on the 12 months simplicity that you get 100 pounds quidco for :? stupid woman keeps on going on about i won't be able to get a free phone til i pay off:? i've told her i don't want a free phone!! & my quidco is validated so surely it will get paid as i'm still going to be on simplicity:?

Susan: Thanks, give me a moment.
kelly: ok :)
Susan: I'm sorry to inform you that you aren't eligible for an upgrade. However, I can change your tariff to £15 and can get a new phone by paying the whole amount.
kelly: sorry? so i can't change simplicity plans to the 15.00 one then? even though it's a higher price contract?
Susan: I can do that right away, however, you won't get the phone, basically a new contract.
kelly: i'm not worried about the phone as i have an htc hd2 but i did order the contract through quidco & am due cash back from them for this contract so changing wouldn't affect that would it?
kelly: & i wouldn't have to pay off the 10.00 a month contract to change to the 15.00 one would i?
Susan: If I change the tariff today it will be effective from one day prior to your bill date. And the amount will be adjusted according to the pro rata for one day.
kelly: ok so just so i understand properly i would change the tarriff one day prior to my bill date & then would be on 15.00 simplicity smartphone fo the next 12 months? my quidco cashback for the 10.00 simplicity has been validated by o2 so i should still get that shouldn't i?
Susan: Let me tell you that you can't get a phone until you pay for it and I'm unable to comment on the offers of cash back by Quidco, in this case you need to contact them.
kelly: i don't understand what you are saying about a phone? the simplicity is sim only?
Susan: Let me make this simple, give me a moment.

finding her tone a bit patronising now :x

But the contract the cashback is for will have been cancelled, I've had validated stuff cancelled before, not guaranteed till it's paid.

hmmm so do you think i'm best holding off til it's paid? :? shouldn't be too much longer now should it?

Susan: If you wish to upgrade your tariff that's move to a upper tariff I can change that for you. However, if you wish to change the tariff and the phone that's called as upgrading a contract which isn't possible until you complete nine months on your present contract. So, you can't get any phone from our end, you can buy it if you wish and I can change the tariff.

still talking about phones

Susan: This will not cancel the contract, just change to a new tariff.

so this shouldn't affect my quidco then should it?

She's saying that you are still locked into the commitment that you made, but on a different tarrif. I wouldn't take anything for granted in relation to your quidco. I wouldn't be surprised if they denied it, were you to take anything other than the service that the claim relates to. You're best off speaking to quidco, but you may well find that by taking a different tarrif they reduce or completely deny your quidco claim.

this woman is really getting on my nerves now!! :x

kelly: so i would be on the 15.00 smart phone tariff for the next 9 months that my current contract has left to run?
Susan: Which phone are you using now?
kelly: htc hd2
Susan: Let me explain you that you aren't eligible for an upgrade so can't arrange a new Smart phone for you. I can only change your tariff.
kelly: i've only had my phone for a few months so no need to upgrade any time soon, just want to know if i change to to 15.00 simplicity smartphone that it will just run until the end of my current 12 month contract?
Susan: You can't change your phone unless you pay for it separately, as you aren't eligible for an upgrade.
kelly: sorry you still haven't answered my question? will the new 15.00 tariff end when my current 12 months contract does?
Susan: That's right!
kelly: ok :) great! can i do this then please?
Susan: Let me confirm with you once again that I can only change your tariff to Simplicity 15 which includes 60 minutes and the Unlimited texts with the Unlimited O2 to O2 calls.
kelly: simplicity smart phone 15.00 has 300mins unlimited texts & data?
kelly: i don't want to sign to 60 mins
kelly: why would i want to change to a deal with less minutes that costs more?
Susan: I'm sorry it's 600 minutes which doesn't include a Smart phone.
kelly: Simplicity for smart phones - 12 months Just a sim - great for browsing the web & email Minutes Texts Inclusive bolt on Monthly cost 300 Unlimited Unlimited Data £15.00 taken from the o2 website??
Susan: I'm unable to see any Simplicity 15 offer which says you'll get a Smart phone with this offer.
kelly: simplicity doesn't include a phone as it's sim only!
Susan: That's right, I think it's clear that you won't get a phone.
kelly: i want the simplicity 15.00 a month contract to use with my htc hd2 which includes 300 mins unlimited texts & data!
Susan: Perfect! I'll do that right away.
kelly: simplicity smartphone 15.00 a month i mean

Ahahahahahaha what an idiot, I always just do it over the phone. I thought live chat was only for new customers.

she was completely stupid! anyways the remaining 9 months of my simplicity contract has 600mins, unlimited texts & data so in the end i got better than the offer shown on o2's website :-D
then had to fill in a survey on her :whistling:
i've taken screen prints of the whole chat if i need it just to be on the safe side

I think you should hold off cos quidco can be funny at times, best not to take a risk as the iphone tariff is not a one off

I've got the same tariff at the moment and using it in a HD2. just make sure that the first time you log in to the cloud or openzone you do it on an iphone. something to do with the mac adress
