No the console will be banned they cannot ban your gamertag so if you bought another xbox you could play online again if you get caught(which you would eventually)

Major over-reaction.

Yes, you can, there is a chance using non-stealthed discs will cause you to be banned, being careful will mean you're fine.

They don't ban your GamerTag they ban your console drive, simply get a new drive, get the drive key extracted from the old drive onto the new drive, sorted.

Resale value is usually the same or 90% .

and if the console is modded with ixtreme pretty much any version released within at least a year or so i think then i don't think it even can play unstealthed copies anymore (they disabled it for protection), afaik (someone correct me if i'm wrong) no one has reported a banning since ixtreme 1.4

since the copies are exact binary copies (they have to be to keep the signature intact) i doubt it matters if you're using a backup or not, if they manage to detect a modded console it won't matter what type of disc you have in it at the time. but you don't loose your gamer tag and you can buy a new arcade for just a shade over a hundred knicker so don't worry about it.

It's the way the games are built, there has been many 1.41 bannings and I'm sure there will be a load on 1.51 too!.. Games available for download are usually put out before the game is released from a leaked source and have patched stealth files, not the ones from the actual retail disc of that game, as they are not available at the time the game is uploaded for everyone else to play.

A DIRECT COPY of a RETAIL disc is the only way to ensure you do not get banned. Programs like ABGX will now check your downloads and fix them to match a RETAIL version if your's is not, but the 360 has NAND flash, so it can save any bad or non retail version of a game and report it next time you go on live, so if you have inserted a bad copy, that's enough to get you banned on the next wave they do.

Latest firmwares do allow you to play these bad games purely as the people that have made them have used valid stealth files (what the firmware will check the disc has) but from other games, which can be detected by MS but pass the firmware so you can play it. Basically the guys that leak the games for you all to play early or ones that are not from a direct rip of a retail will be the ones that get you banned, making ixtreme pointless if you do not check each of your ISO's with ABGX, passing stealth means nothing nowadays, it has to be verified on the ABGX server from one of their RETAIL copies for you to be safe. Or rent, borrow or get the actual disc and rip it yourself with a KREON drive or a 360 dvd drive (which has 0800 firmware, not ixtreme or normal), that way YOU know that it is a direct rip of the game.

non verified, but passed steath again will get you banned. (it can be non verified because they do not have the game in their database, if this is the case, do not play it till they have, if it is an old release though, look for another download by a different group first, and if that is still not verified, then give up and do not play it. New releases will be added to the database for download within a couple of days of there being a retail version available in the shops for it to be added.)

They ban the console serial number and not the dvd drive, so there is no way back once banned.

that was a lot of useful information. thanks. do they provide hash files by any chance, so you can check it's the right version before a 7gig download?

i suppose if all you do is make backups of your own retail discs, you're safe then. tho making your own copies is a pain in the ****.

About the 7GB, I don't think so. I use newsgroups, download a game in just over an hour.

I've never messed a disc up yet, so it's not really a pain in the ass.

he meant it was a pain in the butt to copy your own retail discs then burn em dude lol, which it is a bit.. Even though my little sis works in blockbusters and I can get any I like, of course downloading via newsgroups then checking and verifying with ABGX is quicker.

But using newsgroups is getting a downloaded one, which if you do not check with ABGX, will get you banned.

Again, passing stealth is not good enough nowadays, it has to be verified with a retail disc and ABGX is the only way of doing that with a downloaded game.

Dont verify, then that's a thin tight rope that you are jumping up and down on m8.

And no m8, you goto download em then check em, though all may pass stealth usually only one or two versions of the same game from different groups that uploaded em, will pass verification with a retail disc. So if you know the game is out in the shops but your download doesnt verify, like i said earlier, download another from a different group first then check that one with ABGX.

read the whole thread dude, you can play them online with no worries if you either copy your own games or make sure that you check your downloads with ABGX and verify them with the RETAIL version they have in their database.
