And is it only applicable before a certain time?

Neither me or OH are on Orange, but I have seen people ask on here for codes in the past - If someone were to forward me their code from their Orange phone would it work?

Sorry for all the questions but am going cinema today anyway because kids/monsters are at Nannies house for the night and just remembered about the Orange deal.

Would anyone be willing to send me a code, please, if it will work for me? I would really appreciate it and if there is a small cost incurred when obtaining the code I don't mind covering it.

Thank yous x x x

Oh really - so it wouldn't work if someone texted me their code? :(

It used to work if you put the person who text you the code in your contacts as Orange 241 or something like that.

But now they actually ask to see your phone so they can see what network you're on.

the code would work as long as the person who text you did not use the code earlier.

Oh ok, so if I saved the sender as 'Orange 241' then the cinema may go into it more and find out that the code hadn't come directly from Orange?

i get my friends to forward me a orange code all the time, and usually they ask you to read the code out to them, never had a problem at two odeons cinemas and cineworld which i use to go to regularly in the past 3 years as they were close to my university central london

You can be on orange broadband and get it no matter what network you are on so I don't know why asking to see your phone to check the network would help them any.

Anytime I've had a code sent to me I've just changed the name to 241 incase they ask but they have never even asked to see the code. I guess it depends on what cinema you go to.

Oh and last time I was at the Odeon it said that the ticket machines now accepted the codes too so maybe your local one will.

I don't have Orange so I can't help you out but what's the worst that will happen you'll need to pay full pay? Which is what you're gonna do anyways.

My Grandma used to be Freeserve, which was obviously taken over by Orange, so I registered my phone to her broadband account and can get the cinema voucher. What's very strange is she left Orange broadband for TalkTalk about a year ago.

I can still get them though, am going this afternoon with a ticket I just received actually :)

I text them to someone who is on Tesco mobile all the time.

would just buying an orange sim from £land to pop in the phone ( just before it's checked for genuine orange network reception) lend greater credence ?
..don't know myself as I don't use Orange

Rare they ask to see it but as if anyone with any sense would hand over their £500+ phone to a spotty greasy little oik! They smash it you will have to claim..NEVER give them the phone

if you have a jailbroken iphone download "fakecarrier" from cydia. this allows you to disply "orange" instead of any other network on the iphone.

i thougth having your phone "jailbroke" was illegal lol

This would also be good except that the Cydia app has refused to open for me for months LOL!

Just to let you know, my local Reel cinema (which is really poor quality) do not accept Orange Wednesdays, think it's the same across the board with these cinemas.

I was asked to show my phone last time, but I bought a payg orange sim with £10 credit on it for £4 I thinki it was, popped it in an old phone I had lying around and use that solely for Orange Wednesdays. Only think I need to do is remember to charge it an apply for the code a while before getting to the cinema as the code can take up to an hour (but normally about 5 mins).

the orange iphone app is only for orange iphones, it wont work if you have a iphone on another provider.

Oh, Cagarooney said above that it worked for them on O2?

it did for me, strange?

That's what we are going to see :D
On my way out in a sec, shame I didn't manage to sort out a code but as long as it's good I don't mind paying full price (I guess...) :D

PM me your mobile number, I'll try and sort one out now for you and forward it on.
Just do something nice for someone this week in exchange :)

Should the 'sender' of the text be 'Orange 241', then anyone? If I decide to do the 'save to contacts' thing? x

Like I said the woman just asked for the number, but you could I suppose

Might do, depends how 'scammy' I am feeling - can't really argue that my friend sent me the text and I genuinely didn't know if I do that, eh? :D
SS has kindly told me that the sender should just be '241' :)

Sickly sweet texted me the code and at the cinema they just asked me to read them the code so it worked great.

Thanks so much SS

Didn't think much of 'Paul' though, tbh - guess I was expecting something along the lines of 'Shaun of the dead' :D
