can you paint the inside of a microwave safely?

Posted 9th Mar 2012
i know it sounds crazy, but there is a good explanation!

under the turntable inside my micro, there is a little rim where the wheels go into, to turn the plate. somehow the paint is coming off there and its difficult to clean and bugging me! i like my microwave and apart from that its working fine. instead of just throwing it and buying new, im wondering if there is a 'special' kind of micowave paint that can be safely used. has anyone else ever came across this or know anything about it?

thanks guys xxx

    Yes its very easy really.

Simply place a small tin of paint with the lid still on into the Microwave, turn on for say 10 minutes press start and leave the room come back and there you go a brand smanking fresh looking newly painted microwave.

    Hope this helps

make sure you don't close the door when you're inside it painting, the fumes might harm you.

You can buy special microwave paint at larger branches of B&Q. Try giving them a call.

True. If its just a touch up job, buying a can of paint will be a bit of a waste anyway. Especially when you need to make sure that the house insurance is up to date as well in case you blow up the neighbourhood

I usually let stuff boil over and leave it to set. I find it sets like concrete after a couple of months more microwaving.

I can see the Injury Lawyers for You advert now. "I was painting my microwave and put in a meal for one, the next thing i know my shepards pie blows up in my face. I received £1 in compensation."

You would have to clean all the lumps out first or the finish would look a bit odd I agree X)

comedy thread of the day! No way would I put any kind of paint into a microwave. You wont know what is released once 1000W are heating it.

Then again, people use non-stick pans on high heat which is known to release large amounts of carcinogens!
