can someone give me some info about bank transfers please.
hi all i originally bought something off ebay and was to get refunded as the lady that sold it her young daughter ended up in hospital so she left it to her sister to sort it all out for her.
so instead of her sister posting the item she wanted to refund the payment.
now she asked my details to do it by bank transfer but i have never done bank transfer before now she says it has been sent and i will recieve it in my account by 2-3 working days.
is this right?
i dont want to ask her by keep messaging her as the little girl (her niece) passed away yesterday.
so its a real awkward one.

what had actually happened is i bought the item last saturday but her daughter then got rushed into hospital that same night.
at that point i was still talking to the seller as she told me her daughter was really ill and said to me she would post out on tuesday on the way to the hospital which to be honest has made me feel really arkward as its the last thing she needed to be thinking about.
but thursday came and i got a message off her sister saying that her sister had asked her to sort it out for her and that her daughter had been taken down for an operation and it was touch and go and that at this point it would be easier to refund.
of which i agreed to.
anyway after problems trying to access her sisters paypal she said about the bank transfer yesterday and has messaged me this morning to say she has sent it and also to tell me her niece passed away last night,
One seller told me her dad had died. I found her on Facebook and discovered her father alive and kicking. I messaged her saying that it was good news her dad had recovered. Never got my item or heard back from her! :)
i know she hasnt had anything for sale.

i know but i think this is the truth for what i bought i pressed a buy it now and then agreed on a price for some other items which was added to the price of the postage.
so its not like she got a price she wasnt happy with.
i feel so bad for her and shes also 7 months pregnant too.
yeah its very awkward i will just wait and see, thats why i am asking here rather than having to keep messaging.
If its to and from the same bank its instant, well it is with Barclays. If you are with a different bank it will take longer.

yeah she got my details off me yesterday i dont know if we are with the same bank or not.
i will just wait and see.
i really dont want to message them again so i will leave it to the end of the week and then its had maximum time to go in.
thanks for all your help.
As of a few years ago most banks got the instant bank transfer system so more than likely it should go in within the hour.

well theres not alot i can do but sit and wait really, i really do believe that whats happened is true but i also have heard other similar stories other people have been told.
ive nothing to lose really as if the money isnt there by the end of the week i will just have to contact ebay the payment originally went throgh paypal so i will be covered if anything went wrong.
Otherwise, search for 'sort code checker' on google. Use the one from paymentscouncil DOT org DOT uk and enter your sort code in the boxes. This will tell you if your bank uses the faster payments processing. If so, then you should get the money in max 2 hours, but if the payment is held for checks this can increase to 24 hours. I wouldn't wait till the end of the week.

i had also looked into that before bank transfer was mentioned and i cant open anything until about 2 weeks time maybe they had put a long postage arrival date on the item when it was listed.
This was the original seller has to respond or else you get your money back after 14 days
i would insist of paypay transfer (sad story or not, it's not your fault, should have said, sorry to hear that.....)
could have got paypal log in from sister (surely she trusts her!)
if answer was no raise a dispute.

i just will wait and see if the cash arrives in my account and then i will look into it further if its not there.
i know its not my fault but it has made it really arkward.

this is the message i get when i try to involve ebay.
The item is probably on its way. Please allow enough time for the seller to process and post your item. If you still haven't received the item by 12 Jul, 2012, please contact us. You can also try contacting the seller.
so i will just wait and then take it up with ebay as i cant do anything else anyway.
well if that was the case then bank transfer wouldnt be save to use.
alot of people use it for purchases and obviously have to give there address to recieve there items.
its not like she knows my card number and pin so how could she empty my account.
i dont get that.
