The cost of the meal for all 3 of them comes to £25.

They each pay £10

The waiter brings them the change in 5 x £1 coins.

All 3 of them take £1 each and give a £2 tip to the waiter.

So if they have paid £10 each and each get £1 back, They have paid £9 each, that is £9 x 3 = £27.

£2 has gone to the waiter.

£27 + £2 = £29....where has the other £1 gone????

30-2 = 28

28-(1x3) = 25

Meal cost "25.00.

£27.00 - £25.00 = £2.00 which the waiter got.

26 given to man 1

27 given to man 2

28 given to man 3

leaves 29 and 30 as tip =£2

so all accounted for

Seems plausible. Either that, or one of the 3 men isn't as trust-worthy as they all think, and actually took £2 back rather than £1 :x
