Can someone solve this for me???

3 business men go to lunch.
The cost of the meal for all 3 of them comes to £25.
They each pay £10
The waiter brings them the change in 5 x £1 coins.
All 3 of them take £1 each and give a £2 tip to the waiter.
So if they have paid £10 each and each get £1 back, They have paid £9 each, that is £9 x 3 = £27.
£2 has gone to the waiter.
£27 + £2 = £29....where has the other £1 gone????

i dont understand there is no anomaly things dont just dissapear

you're doing the maths the wrong way round. they give £10 each. Then you take away the money they gave the waiter. Then you take their £1 each

10x3 = 30
30-2 = 28
28-(1x3) = 25

i posted a similar one a while back lol, they are mind boggling

If you work it out correctly they each pay £9.3333 recurring, not £9 so there is no missing quid

£27 + £2 = £29....where has the other £1 gone????

It rolled under the table :w00t:

They've paid £9 each, that's £27 in total, £25 for the meal, £2 for the tip - nothing missing!

Er no - if they pay £10 each and get £1 change, that's £9 each!

They each paid £9.00.
3 * 9 = £27.00.
Meal cost "25.00.

£27.00 - £25.00 = £2.00 which the waiter got.

if they paid £30 and need a £5 refund then the 5 £1 coins would be coin 26 27 28 29 30

26 given to man 1

27 given to man 2

28 given to man 3

leaves 29 and 30 as tip =£2

so all accounted for

hooray! there is no missing money after all

Seems plausible. Either that, or one of the 3 men isn't as trust-worthy as they all think, and actually took £2 back rather than £1 :x

Was it by any chance a restaurant in Liverpool? If so the waiter took the extra quid.

Or if it was in Central London they've added a sneaky £1 service charge to the bill :p

A lunch for 3 for just 25 quid? - now that is a hot deal
