Hi....probably a stupid question but I have never had a fake tan before and my daughter and I have been given a voucher for a st tropez tan a week and a half before we go on holiday. Will I still get a tan on holiday?

oh bless you yes you can. most spray/fake tans are designed to last a week by which timw you will have the start of a natural tan underneath it. you still need to apply spf though ;)

Stop taking the mick everyone !

@ aliandk...... unfortunately your fake tan will work as a "reversing agent" against UV rays.
The effect of sunlight will actually turn you whiter than white after about 15 minutes exposure.

HTH.

Had a few laughs at my own expense- but hey it was one of those questions I had to ask as I never had one before and didn't know if it affected the tanning process! U never no. But thanks anyway. By the way, I am brunette, have a very successful job and enjoy 4-5 holidays a year- so maybe not that stupid! Xx

Lol. I love this section. Every time I come on there is a question that just seems unreal that anyone could even ask them.

Can't stop laughing.

Just remember not to put toast in the toaster or it will burn :-)

i wouldnt bother with the fake tan, because when you go on holiday your still guna have to use sun cream, and before long you will probably find yourself rubbing your fake tan off, so your "natural tan" might turn out uneven and blotchy

With 4-5 holidays a year you would think you would already have a tan :)
#14
The fake tan would of worn off by the time you go away anyway , only usually lasts a week to ten days .

We don't always go to sunnier climes! Our last one was to cologne at Xmas, so hardly likely to have a tan am I?

You may have a point there. Think I will give it a miss! Thanks for the polite comment.

Well I suppose I must be stupid as well then. I think it's a perfectly reasonable question. Don't really get all the pee-taking. :|

I thought it may of had a sort of coating, and maybe affected the way your natural tan develops. It was a reasonable question, not everyone knows these things. I bet ther is quite a few people out there who have read this and had wondered exactly the same but daren't ask! Bet ya! But that's life I guess. I have seen many questions on this forum which are just as daft that I knewnthe answer to but wasn't unkind enough to try to make a fool out of them. Luckily, I have thick skin and can laugh at myself!!

Now you've confirmed my stupidity, as I don't even understand your question, unless you've missed out a comma after 'why'.

Replace "might" with "would".

no problem, i always find myself asking questions on here that people seem to take the mick out of!!! lol, they got nothing better to do!!! but honestly, id give the fake tan a miss cos it could get messy with ya going in swimming pools, on the beach etc :)

What did you mean.. like the 'coating' of the St Tropez would act like a 2nd skin or something!?

No, like the others have said, it won't make any difference.. Other than taking a little longer than normal to notice you're burning (if you do) I guess? Im whiter than white and notice the redness/sun-burn without a tan quite soon after sitting in the sun, but less so with some Xen tan on, I guess thats just the same with any tan though, bottled or not.

I dont think it will go blotchy either, as long as you're exfoliating and applying moisturizer.. Unless you're completely changing the color of your skin (David Dicko stylee) then you might notice patchiness (swimming in the pool etc will dry out your skin). Enjoy your hols :)

You cant "rub" off a spray tan, not if the "sprayer" is using a good product anyway. I have still got places of spray tan left, after 3 weeks.....regardless of endless rubbing and scrubbing!

incredible question but the gif was better

My sister had a spray tan before we went to Turkey last year, temperatures reached 50 degrees and she never tanned, ended up having a turkish bath to get the tan off and to achieve a proper tan, which she then did straight away!

Why would you want to fake tan anyway? If you're successful in your job then any achievements you gain will be countered when applying fake tan.

Duh..read...I received this as a gift voucher for me and my daughter to have by a certain date. I wasn't sure wether to have one...that's why i asked. Such a simple question and such a load of silly replies. As *Katie* says, it can happen.

Duh, it was a rhetorical question.

I was criticising fake tanning in general and those who even contemplate getting one - even if it is free. I'd pay not to look like an orange.

Really don't understand why people have to be mean. Just Internet bullies wanting attention >D thank you to all who ligitimately answered the question because I was wondering the same thing.
#38
Waow people do waste their time leaving stupid comments... It was a reasonable question which I googled myself :)... How are people expected to know things if they're just going to get called stupid for asking

I never get a tan when wearing fake tan I always end up scrubbing it off it seams to act like a barrier :(
