Can you still get TAX back in the usa?

Im going to LA soon and want to buy an ipad but dont want to pay the $54 tax on one, and heard y ou can get it back at the airport. Has anyone done this?

its only if you're paying custom taxes I would presume? which would be higher than $54.
The I-Pad 2 supply has dried up in the USA as Apple diverts it's resources into launches across the globe. I was recently in Boston and they had no stock at all and were unable to give a date of restock. An essential component is made in Japan and with their problems nothing is leaving the factory, the supply problems are expected to remain for many weeks to come.

To answer your original question, at the airport their is normally an office to refund the local tax for goods bought. However I was under the impression it was just for local sales tax at 3%, if it was more I wished I'd have joined the queue!
Sales tax?

I was also told you could, but in the last 10 years have never managed it. They want this form and that kind of receipt...
