I work from 8:30 every morning so we leave the house at 7:30am.
Today I had an email asking if a parcel I had been sent had arrived.
I inputted the tracking number online to find out where it was and got this...

That is not my signature, My surname is Alexander, but that is not my signature underneath, nor is that my handwriting spelling my own name :/
and no parcel has been delivered, I've spoken to both our neighbours and they have also had no parcel.
what the hell?
not quite sure what to do, really with royal mail's phone lines were open right now I really need to scream at someone.

Special Delivery item, probably worth a bit? I'd pop by the post depot if I was you tomorrow to see what's going on.
Don't tell me the postman decided to sign for it and left it on step or something.

We recently had four concert tickets, which had been sent via special delivery go missing. Postman had signed for them and stuffed them through our old address (despite it being different to the one on the envelope, and the fact that we have a redirection in place..)

Postie thought he was doing us a favour by saving us the trip back to the post office to collect..
He saw our surname on the packet and just went on his merry way delivering them to a house we moved from in April.

The new occupier of our old house works away so we were stuffed unfortunately.

Sorry, to clear up, it is my local delivery office and it was sent by a friend not a seller so the address was correct and I've been sent a pic of the post office receipt to check the tracking number.
I'm a bit flabbergasted...

well i guess either the postman has delivered it to wrong address or hes nabbed it, if it isnt your name then i guess you have a strong claim.hope you sort it out

ouch!
although I'd appreciate the help from our postie if this was the case, we usually get carded and call at the depot the following morning on the way to work so a card would have been easier, and probably would have resulted in the item being in my possession by now lol.

probably signed for by someone at royal mail,do you normally get your post after 1pm?

my postie regularly signs for these if he cant deliver by 1pm so it looks as if it was delivered on time

it usually arrives around 11am.
the strange thing is that we usually just get a card, even for small envelopes that would fit through the letter box, if they require a sig they end up at the depot.

i had this before as well, postman had signed for it as it was special delivery before 1pm .....i was going mad on the phone to the post office and he sauntered down the garden path at just after 2pm.....

If Royal Mail deliver a Special Delivery parcel after the 9am or 1pm guaranteed time delivery slot, then the person who sent it can get a postage refund.

Take along a bank card with you to show the signature is not yours, and print off the tracking page if you can.

Royal Mail has been going down the pan a long time.

I found a huge wodge of letters on a wall in our road a couple of weeks back. It was a saturday lunchtime. They were for about 40 different houses down the street, a mixture of all sorts of letters. No postman to be seen anywhere.

I took them to the local sorting office and the guy behind the counter said-

"Well, what do you expect me to do with them"

I replied
" Er... Royal Mail - maybe get them delivered?"

He says-

"Well thanks for bringing them in just as I'm closing - we'll try and get them out Monday."

He shook his head, laughed and walked off.

I didn't bother taking it further although looking back, ,I wish i had done.Suffice to say I keep a close eye on my post now. Anything I'm expecting that's important like birthday cards etc I ask to be sent recorded.
