My mum is 76 and wants a new mobile but as she is retired would she be able to get one on contract or only pay as you go due to not having an income other than her state pension and disability allowance/attenadance allowance etc, and some savings?

They give them to people on Job Seekers so I can't see why not.

This is true, just wondered if anyone had a relative in the same position?

I don't think they would refuse her money, especially at a time when everyone needs all the customers they can get.

Also my friend hasn't been in work for years due to sickness and she entered into a monthly contract with her provider last year.

I think the bottom line is as long as she can afford to pay the bills and also I would do some serious research so that she gets the best deal. There are some good redemption offers out there and if you do it online you can get casback through cashback sites such as Quidco (which seems to be very popular on here) or Topcashback (which I prefer because you don't have to pay them a fee even if its a 1 off like quidco).

Anyways good luck whatever you guys decide to do for / with your mum

Direct Debit can't see why they would whine at money.

As long as she has a good credit rating I can't see why not....

As long as anyone can pass the credit check they'll get a contract.

My ol' man took early retirement a few years ago, and he's never had any trouble getting phone contracts. Your mam will be fine.

If they dont give them the contract (which they should) I dont think there would be anything to stop you getting one out on their behalf...

I would be cautious about getting a contract on anyones behalf as if something goes wrong you are liable for the bill.

I doubt there would be too much to worry about with the OP's 76 year old mother....but guess your right...:whistling:
