hi i am trying to get my itouch to work on the wifi, i have the key for the security on it and its finding the signal but says the key is incorrect, although i am taking it from the box itself. is there another setting etc you need to do on the itouch to make it work?

cheers

in you setting for the router it will say if its wep pr wpa, so then what ever you trying to get on it you need the same wep or wpa, does the code on the box say wep or wap for the code? and has this been chaged

Had exact same problem on my girlfriend's 8GB touch. Kept putting in key and said invalid. I went into the ipod settings, fiddled around with the options regarding the WPA or whatever it was and tried again. It still failed to connect initially but after about 3 further attempts started working. Can't tell you exactly what I did as I don't have it here to check but I only changed the 1 setting and it's quite obvious which 1 it is when you get in to the settings. Main thing to remember is that it is case sensitive, would only accept mine in capitals.
Good luck

on the box where you are reading the code, does it say wep or wpa next to it, also when you trying to get your ipod on does it ask you for a wep key or a wpa key

also when you put in code, as said above it is case sensitive and you dont leave spaces if i remember rightly

as i havent got an ipod i cant really help you, and as mine is an orange livebox i cant help with how you get into your settings, are you sure you put code in correct, one digit out and it will not work, or using a zeri instead of a naought, all usually in caps and no spaces

well unless you can find out what security it is the no, i would say one is wpa and one is wep, but like i said i dont know how to get in the settings of your router

Mine was EXACTLY same problem mate. The settings I changed were on the IPOD. Press the round button at the bottom to get up the menu, you may need to turn it on and off to get rid of the password screen. Then go in to settings. In the 'general' settings, mine is now configured to 'location services' : on, 'passcode lock': off and 'restrictions': off. Selcet the network category in the same menu, mine says VPN: not configured and underneath is my wi-fi SSID. Try the same settings and go back and try entering Network key again, may take a few attempts.

On our sky box we have SSID, which should come up when a wifi netowrk is found. The type in the "Network Key". If that doesn't work, i aint got a clue.

wow good news, well kind of, it is now connected, i wasnt doing it in caps but it was showing a cap letter, but it still wont connect to safari etc, although it is showing connected to my wifi now

any more ideas?

it keeps saying cant find host

you probably need to set it to dhcp
goto settings ....general....network ... select your network and click the blue arrow. set it to dhcp this will pull the ip address and dns details from your router. once these are listed on the ipod touch then it should work. you may need to turn it off and back on before you try getting onto the internet
